Commercial fixed blade? Since we are doing traditional folders, I figured why not fixed blades. Mine is the Buck Frontiersman 124. One is the 2012 LE version, the other is an early model that I picked up years ago with a chipped point, which I reground into a spearpoint.

I think the ESEE line are pretty nice knives. I like the ESEE 3.
That Buck looks nice with a spear point.

I was going to say about the same thing, found JK before really experimenting too much with fixed blades, I did like the few Blind Horse Knives ones I tried though.

The only commercial FBs I have anymore are Bussekins,(1 rat & 6 dogs)with the exception of a buck 470 Mentor & the only reason I have it is because I don't know what to do with it.(I doubt I could sell it for more than it would cost to ship it):rolleyes:maybe I'll have a give a way
I sold my 105 last year because I never used it,and have had a 184,120,& a 119 in the past.(wish I still had the 184,them things are bringing some big bucks nowadays)
Those 124s sure are nice, but I don't remember them on my radar when I was into Bucks back in the 80s.Maybe I just liked the clipped blades better back then.

Anyhoo,now you got me wanting a 124.(and a 103 and a 113,geez,thanks.;))

The 124`s are still available at some online stores and A.G Russell. I`ve got a 113, got rid of the 103. Actually I have all of the fixed blades except for a 103.

Love the 124. I fell in love with it the first time I saw one. I'll get one some day. My favorite though is the Becker BK-5. It's really a fantastic blade.

I have a 124 LE 2012 and it's about as sweet a production blade I've seen! Too pretty to use actually:D The Esee 4 and Izula II are both great and are a real solid combo together, love them both! That said, my favorite production fixed blade has to be the Buck Vanguard. I own the Alaskan Guide version and that thing has cleaned and processed quite a few deer with only a minor touchup from time to time. It is extremely comfortable in the hand with no hot spots. The guard is a nice feature as well protecting the hands from sliding onto the blade when slippery from blood. Just seems the ultimate deer blade to me and has served me well. Now, if I could just get it in Nickle and Stag with an upgraded steel.....

:DI guess, as far as production knives go, make mine a Mora (most any will do).

Edit: Most any will do, but I really like the discontinued Craftsman model. Probably due to the super-thin blade.

I don't have one, and I know it is kinda' stupid, but I would love to have a Down Under Outback Bowie.

I guess my favorite production fixed blade that I own is a Busse Pork Shank, or the Busse BA that John modified (but that makes it a custom now, doesn't it?......)

best

Man it's hard to choose honestly but I have to go with these blades/companies. Busse! one of my favorites and I absolutely love infi! Bark river Gunny or bravo 1. In any steel they are just plain old amazing designs! and then I have to give esee some props. great no nonsense fixed blades that can take the abuse and have a top notch warranty

I have the Bass Pro Vanguard with the wood handles and slightly shorter blade, it`s definitely designed for hunting.

I forgot about my old Marine Ka-Bar & Mora 612.

And the humpback Herters.

Of course if we're talking about past companies, my favorite of all time are Schrades. They are really the only fixed blades that I put on the same level as my customs. It's funny. They were some of the least expensive knives around but they are some of the best performers ever made. It's really hard to beat their 1095 and especially the heat treat they used.

Hard choice but after some thought, I'd have to say my Marbles Sport with stacked leather handle. It's the one on bottom in the photo. The top one is a Trailmaker Bowie with jigged bone handle. Both were bought when Marbles fixed blades were still U.S. made.

tough call.
I've been in love with the Buck 124 since they stopped making them - and haven't had the spare to spend on one of the 2012 LEs.
(too many nice customs out there)
The ESEE Izula 2 is excellent, as is the ESEE 6
BK14/24 is high on my list as well - but would be better with the Izula 2 handle (not going to happen according to Kabar)
but...
The BK16 is darn near perfect and has been the knife on my hip pretty much every time I'm carrying a factory fixed blade since I picked it up a year ago.

Huba-huba,that Bowie is a beaut!

Although I still occasionally feel guilty when using it my Randall 14 is one of my favorites.
