I have a sharpmaker with the medium, fine, and ultra fine stones. And as most people know it is almost impossible to put a new back bevel on a knife with this setup. I want some insight on what type of grits would be optimal to tape over my stones to achieve this?
I ultimately want to do the Joe Talmage recommendation for sharpening and have tried it with my sharpmaker and it's taking way too long.... ugh! Thanks ahead of time

Buy the diamond stones for the sharpmaker. Pricey but removes metal fast.

Try the diamond stones. And start with 150-220 grit for sandpaper. Search grit of Spyderco Sharpmaker on google. A bunch of info shows up.

I watched both of his videos very informative. Thanks for the links. I think I will try 220 grit and so what happens.
