What scale material are these two knives? (trying to figure out what I like)

Emerson CQC-7 - I guess this would be called peel-ply G10? Coarse or medium?

Kershaw Crown - I know it's micarta but what kind? I assume paper or linen (not canvas)

The reason I ask is that I am considering making or having made some custom scales for my Griptilian but want to make sure I'm getting something I like. Of all the knives that I've fondled recently the above two IMHO have the nicest scale material. I'll be rotating the two in my pocket so I can come to a decision. Leaning towards micarta as the peel ply by necessity would mean flat scales while the micarta could be shaped more like the stock Grip scales.

thanks!

If you done see any grain or weave in a Micarta its a Paper. If you see some its a Linen. If you see a lot and you can usually feel it, it a Canvas/Cotton Micarta.

must be paper then, I really can't see any weave at all. Looks more like black dyed wood than anything else. I *think* that's the one that I prefer, and probably more fitting for the Grip, but I'm going to rotate it with the Emerson just to make sure I don't change my mind after more use.
