In regards to the thread "where did everybody go" I thought Id start a new thread since I hadent in a while. Although I have thinned my collection down some in the last year and focused mainly on my schrades, I have found myself not being able to resist using them more and more. Now I have always had users and actually used them. I also have safe keepers as well, but something inside me every once in a while compels me to use one I hadent planned on using.. now Im not talking 2ot or anything crazy just ones I never really used or needed. I just get sick of looking at them on display and thinking man if I die tomorrow I looked at that knife for 3 years and never got to use it. But Im very lucky as I work out in the field so any knife goes, small folders, big folders and fixed blades.

So on to the business, Lets see what schrade you have been using lately... Say sometime in the last few weeks. Been doing a lot of skinning lately so my 98ot has seen a lot of action and the 15ot just cause its a cool knife and I can. Lets see yours!!!

darn i looked but couldn't find a photo of my every day carrier which is a 3OT. in fact have two which i rotate every week. keep on sharpened then when start it on its new week have a good serviceable tool to use at work. the surprising thing is that work has banned locking knives or any knife for that matter due to idiots not knows how to correctly use them. nothing takes the place of a good sharp knife.

Last week I decided to give my regular EDC SAK a vacation and brought my Craftsman 906 Officer's out to walk around with me for a while. He'll go back on the shelf in a little while but every Officer needs to go to the field once in a while.

I've been carrying a Sch USA 834 lately. Misjudged an auction and the blades are less than full so thought I'd put it to work. The Schrade edge still makes short work of any minor tasks I ask of it. Had been carrying a Schrade Imperial Ireland AP35. Very light and again great at holding an edge.

Up until I received my 2010 BF knife, I had been carrying around this old fellow exclusively. Now I'm rotating between the two. Also wanted to say thanks for starting a new thread and helping to liven the place up!

I have been carrying a SS30 for about 2 years now in my watch pocket. Its based on a 3rd generation pattern and was made for a couple years. It is a great carry as it is quite thin and lies flat in a watch pocket, razor share and excels at cutting apples. :D On the weekend I add a SQ587. It was made in 2004 during the last year of production. One of Schrades last attempts of grabbing some of the tactical knife market share. It was also one of the 1st patterns Taylor brought back out when they started up production in 2005. I thought I would never like a pocket clip on a knife but its become a first grab on a Sat morning. With the new laws in NH I've also carried my big Camillus X-Ray quite a bit on the weekends as long as Im not traveling across the state line

lrv,you are very fortunate to be able to carry a knife outside your house and I'm sure you appreciate it......in Victoria Australia where I am at the moment they have gone the other paranoid way and I have had to remove even my small Schrade LB1 from my car keys as there is an instant on the spot fine of $2000 and confiscation and they have surprise searches at train and bus stations...and they regard a knife in your vehicle as knife carry with the same penalties, even a fishing knife...so to answer the question...I no longer carry anything unless I'm out bush or out in the boat and they are all securely locked in a shipping container...now they are talking Licences and Registrations to own a knife and our Australian Knife Club has been suspended.....how often does a small minority ruin it for the majority..Hoo Roo.

Larry303,
Hang in there. It only took 60 years for my NH to come to it senses :D
Other neighboring states sound a lot like OZ.

Sounds like your gonna be in trouble carving a roast at the dinner table soon!
As for minorities causing issues... Press 1 for English.

ah i knew living in the south would have its perks. i carry a LB 7 when i go out at night. keep it in my back pocket and no one says anything when i have to remove it to get to my billfold. carrying a knife in the south is just second nature to most of us. sorry all the rest of the world is crazy.

dang larry i hate to hear that, australia was going to be my first choice of country "to run to". but if i cant take my knives and carry ..................?
sw863 in my pocket, and a 165ot in the pickup door panel pocket.-----------(also a kershaw assist opener mounted next to ignition switch and a marlin 30-30 behind the seat)----im a old boy scout-be prepared.-----------brady

This one for the last month or so. I still can't get over the quality. I'm digging on the 897UH pattern so much that I bough two more NIB back-ups. Both are perfect also.

The 897UH is the one that led me to this site some years ago. My worker broke one of mine and I was looking for a replacement. I have since bought several dozen of them, nearly every variant and special issue, and every production period from first to last. I can't see how any other pattern would fit my daily needs better.

I was never very fond of the stockman pattern until I started using my Dad's 897UH that he left me after he passed away last year. His was very worn from years of sharpening and use but still had no blade wobble and the snap was still perfect. There is something about these knives that I can't seem to find anywhere else in a new knife.

It is for sure a sweet pattern. I don't use the spey blade, but I sure like the other two. If you get a chance, treat yourself to an 861 or 61OT. Same type of knife, just a tad longer. It is a nice one to put in the rotation.
