What SE Spyderco would you recommend?

Hello all, I am thinking of buying my first serrated edge Spyderco. What model would you recommend for ordinary daily use (i.e. not counting self defence)? Thanks!

Personally I'm a huge fan of the SE Millie, if your looking for something smaller then maybe the original Para in SE....however it really depends on what chores your daily use actually consists of. The Millie & Para just work well for me.
Spyderco serrations differ from factory to factory, so do your research. Generally I've found Japanese SE's are to aggressive for most common chores, the serration's "tip's" on Golden produced SE's are more rounded which in my experience makes for a much more useful knife all round. Push cutting has never been a problem for me either with Golden's SE blades.

The SE Delica or Endura would be top choices. I used to be a SE hater, but then figured out how awesome they are. They go through cardboard and clamshells like butter, but you can still peel an apple or sharpen a pencil.

Endura.

Salt 1 or Ladybug. The SE Ladybug packs an enormous amount of cutting potential into a keychain-sized knife. An SE Salt is awesome due to H1 and the work hardening from the extra machining. I believe it puts the HRC up to 68.

I vote Native. I've edc'd mine for about 3 years now and love it. Perfect size for the office and still big enough for just about anything you want to do. I recently used mine to peel all the bark off a six foot oak tree limb with no problem. :D

Another vote for the Salt 1 in SE. Its been my EDC for the past six years. I use it almost every day at work, as Powernoodle says, it goes through both cardboard and plastic clamshell packages like butter!

Hello all, I am thinking of buying my first serrated edge Spyderco.
For the first SE knife I would recommend Delica. It is not expensive and very capable knife. I wouldn't recommend anything more expensive. This is your first SE, you never know, if you like it. My first SE was may last as well.

+1000 on the Delica second on Native.

I have both and while they both fit both my admittedly small hands, I believe that the Delica gives a greater range of more secure grips. I love my Native but it only fits well when I hold it with my forefinger in the choil (finger grove) of the blade. When I drop back on the handle to use my forefinger in the finger groove of the handle the slope of the back of the handle is such that it doesn't fit securely in my hand. When I hold my Delica, I find that the hump on the back of the blade gives me more leverage than the combination of choil and jimping on the Native. The butt of the Delica is also just a little bit wider and of a slightly different shape which seems to make it a little more secure in my hand no matter which grip I take.

If you have the opportunity to handle both I would suggest that you also try moving the clips to the different positions to see how each feels.

The new generation of Delica has that slight drop point which I feel greatly enhances it's useability. This, in my estimation, may make it a little more utilitarian than the Native.

But whichever you choose you will be getting the best of the best in my opinion.

Just researched the same topic and chose a Pacific Salt SE. I like the Endura-sized blade but it is lighter and the handle is just a bit shorter than the Endura (and I hope the handle is thinner too). As for the H1 steel, it is a bonus but I don't hang out around saltwater.

I'm considering an SE Tasman Salt or Salt 1. Not sure which I like better yet. Love my SE Endura 4 though...

I like the SE Delica the best - preferably in ZDP 189. Incredible cutting ability. If you can find it the fully serrated Paramilitary is also very good.

I say H1. H1's work hardened. When it's serrated, it's hardness surpasses that of VG10. Also, it'll never rust either... I'd suggest the Pacific (H1 Endura, Kinda), serrated.

I thought ZDP Delica is available in PE version only, pardon my ignorance. A fully serrated Paramilitary? Is that a sprint run?

no, you'll have to find an original paramiitary, the para2 isn't avaiable in SE .

The serrated ZDP 189 is new. I just got one a couple of weeks ago but have been cutting rope and canvas with it and it works well.

The serrated Paramilitary is the previous version but you can still find it if you look around. Serrated S30V on the Paramilitary. I like this knife but the ergos are different than on the new Paramilitary.
