What sheath style would you reccomend for fixed blade concealed carry?

Just wondering what sheath type you would reccomend for a fixed blade (such as a SOG seal 2000/seal pup elite etc) that would permit concealed carry (or at least as much as possible).

I know that both of the two knives mentioned above come with sheaths (kydex and nylon respectively), so can these be mounted in a way that doesnt attract unwanted attention?

I appreciate your help as I use my current knife (which I am in the process of replacing) regularly and it is a huge waste of time and effort to constantly have to thread it off my belt every time I fill up my vehicle at the service station or buy a coke at a road side stop. For the record I am willing to get a custom job done as may be necessary from reading similar forum responses.

Thanks for your thoughts and opinions, Tom

Hey 123..

Welcome to BF.com...

Well firstly te OEM rigs that come with your knife aren't suited for IWB carry...

They are large and bulky, and don't have the proper belt attachments for concealed carry...

Pop in and have a look at my website..

www.onscenetactical.com

There are many examples of sheaths that are used for IWB carry...

Feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions

I'd check your states laws on concealed weapons first. Carrying a 7 inch fixed blade knife concealed is going to be illegal in most places.

If you are looking for an easily concealable, easy on/off, IWB sheath, I make a stud style sheath called the Southern Comfort. Works for blades six inches and above. Also make a Drawpoint sheath with IWB loop and "G" clip, that will work for just about any blade. Eric's a good guy (good sheathmaker too) and either one of us can fix you up.

Thanks for all the replies thus far guys. These stud-type sheaths look like the way to go.
As for legality, carrying is more for convenience and I would not be carrying the knife without a lawful excuse in a public area.
Thanks again for you help, Tom

Fixed blade concealed carry . . . You obviously don't live in California.

the very best sheath system for the way i carry fixed blades is bud nealys MASS system, its the very best i have ever used.

the MOD razorback has a pretty good sheath too.

onscenetacticals are also good.

Having a look, there is a lot of decent kit out there. It looks like Ill go with one from on/scene tactical. Thanks again guys for your replies and insight into an area that was quite frankly foreign to me.

I love Bob Dozier's horizontal kydex sheath. Always thought the whittler or canoe models would be about perfect as a regular carry blade. Dozier will make you one for just about any knife. Other blade that is nice that I have experience with is the Spyderco Moran which is a drop point and very similar in design as many of the Doziers. Nice blade. The factory sheath can be rigged horizontal, but I prefer it at abouta 30 degree angle relative to the belt.

Normark's sheaths are extremely versatile and well suited to concealed carry -- IWB or out, left, right. I carry my F1 IWB occasionally in a Normark sheath with no problems.
