What should a Busse Folder look like?

Well, Jerry started this with the polls so here we go...

We were given the choice of thumb studs or hole, but that has all been done and neither would be BUSSE...
Then a few thought about a nail "nick"... Still not BUSSE...

I wonder if we could use a Beer Bottle Opener as the opening assist. Now that would scream BUSSE !!!

I suck at photoshop, but what if a Mini Mr. Mojo was the base for this? We have had:

Mr. Mojo CG
Mr. Mojo LE
Mini Mr. Mojo
Flying Mojo

Why the heck not "Pocket Mojo" - Mr. Mojo Risin'

Just a thought

I always thought a foldin' Heart would be really cool. Spear point, thick, tough.

Of course, it would be called the Busse "Broken Heart"
:D ;) :)

A long time ago I brought this up and I too saw this feature as usable in a way like the "wave" only nuke size.

At the time I thought "Broken Arrow" might be a good name. While I like "Broken Heart" the SH has too much diff in the blade to handle ratio. Even to get this to work with the variant Mini Mojo I had to resize the blade to 75% original size or the handle would be way too big.

I think this works out to a ~ 4 1/2" to 5" handle with a ~4" to 4 1/2" blade (3 1/2" to 4" cutting edge)

By going with the "E" handle I thought that the user could get a good grip when the knife was closed and use it as either a fist load or a hammer.

Anyone else ever play with the thought "Jerry is making my a folder and I get to make it any way I want!" I've seen art work from many of you and some of you should be able to "Blow Us Away"

It needs a flipper!! :D

Well... why the hell not!!! I took the Hump for the Talon hole off as I didn't think I would be useful on a folder. If we put it back on extend it a bit and reshape it could that work?

One question... Can a "flipper" be done with an internal blade stop pin? The ones I've seen and used all had external blade stop pins and that kills the idea of the blade catch as the opener. I hate the "thumb studs/external stop pins" that must rest directly on the handle/scale when the knife is either open or closed.

I discovered Busse knives because I was tired if not trusting my folders and as a result I was turning to fixed blades, which I wasn't very familiar with. Folders had gotten me started on the downward slope to knifeaholic status. I was PUMPED when I discovered the world of Busse knives, this was the no-holds-barred, overbuilt, Abrahms M1A1 tank kinda stuff I was on a quest to find. So this is still what I want when it comes to a Busse folder.

That having been said, the number one issues to me in a folder is security: grip security and lock security. I want an aggressive grip that allows aggressive stabbing and thrusting WITHOUT your hand sliding foward.

Lock security is a much bigger ball of wax. I only want to point out 2 observations in this regard. There are two things that result in lock failure: a force that exceeds the inherent structural/mechanical strength of the lock design and UNINTENTIONALLY RELEASING THE LOCK DURING AGGRESSIVE USE. This has been my problem with frame lock designs. If you are right handed and you torque many frame locked knives hard to the right, while gripping tightly, it can release the lock. This is not a strength issue, it's what Joe Talmadge, I believe refers to as, a reliability issue, for the lock. Either way, it is still a failure and can cause serious injury. There seems to me to be lots of discussion of lock failure due to strength but not nearly enough talk about failures due to reliability i.e. inadvertent release.

Regardless of lock strength or lock reliability, if the knife includes a substantial finger choil at the hilt of the blade (as most of the busse fixed blades have) if the folders lock fails for any reason, the blade folds over onto your index finger,BUT AT THE FINGER CHOIL, so instead of sending you to the hospital to try and save your finger, it's "only" like closing your index finger in a pair of pliers. Painful but not cripling.

I certainly expect a bulletproof, overbuilt, rock of a folder from Busse, but I would still like the added insurance that a sizeable finger choil at the hilt of the blade would provide. Plus as with the fixed blades, it aids so nicely in choking up for more precise blade work.

Pocket Mojo!! :D
Outstanding!!

I'm sure it will look great. I hope the lock will be SOLID. At least on par with the REKATs. I'm sure Jerry will get it right.

But the pocket mojo photo is really something! Just needs a thumbstud [or can opener] , a pivot mechanism and some kind of lock:D :D

Now that folding mini-mojo would kick ass!!!!! Talk about just what the doctor ordered. Put some ambi-thumbstuds on that sucker and it's a dream come true :D
