I've always wanted a BM ever since i started to collect/use knives, but they're all expensive. I was going to get the Grip, but lot of people said it feels cheap for a $100. Should i still get it, because my limit is around $120 maybe $150

I would suggest a Rift. Great knife on many levels.

Best of luck!

Not a big fan of the plastic handles, but the mini grip is still a great knife. I like how you can order a complete custom one off of the benchmade site. Similar knives that have better handles are the bone collector series, but the scales are a tad rough IMO.

There's nothing wrong with a Grip, to many they ARE Benchmade's most popular model. The scales are very sturdy and take a beating and fits the hand very well. Personal preference of course, but I would buy a 551 (large) or 556 (small) WAYYYY before a stock 520 or a 525.

+1 on this ↑ The 520 is definitely a lot "cheaper" feeling than the griptilian in my opinion. I like knifes with some heft to them.

710 all the way, you will not be disappointed. I didn't think I would like it but once I held one it was a perfect fit. Bro in law picked up a 710 and 2013 Shot Show Limited Grip this past weekend...the 710 is smooth as butta :)

i just cant decide if i want the od handles. most of my other knives are all blacked. do you know how dark the od is?

The OD is somewhat dark. I like it. Here it is compared to the print on a dollar bill (the only common and somewhat darker green colored thing I had and could think of at the moment). I'm drawing a blank for other common dark green colored items that everyone might have. I'm also assuming the OD on the large Grip is the same as the mini.

I have read very decent suggestions. The grip is an outstanding knife at that price point in my opinion. I have the Doug Ritter version of that blade, I absolutely love it. If you can snag a 710 or a 940 in your price range, I would go with either. The 940 is an outstanding edc. And smooth.... Dear Lord Baby Jesus, smoothest Bench I have messed with, out of my other Grips, and my Contego. Smooth as butter. The 300 is also a good option, Benchmades flipper that just came out. It is for smaller hands though as it barely fits in my medium sized hands. Oh well I am done rambling. The Grip, 710, and 940 are great options for you. Look around and get your hands on them if you can first.

I've had lots of BM models... most of the ones I like they don't make anymore. I suggest the 940. Thin, light, big blade, does not interfere with getting into pocket, attractive but tough as nails.

If you are going to get a grip, get the Doug Ritter version. The full size grips are real bulky in the pocket.

I could never get used to the blade shape of the 710 recurve, but guys love that knife.

I just ordered a Volli as a mid size (between mini and full size knife at 3.25"), S30V, thin slicer with nice G10 grips and not super bulky. Not a big fan of assisted, but I may see about modifying it to a manual.

Thanks for the amazing photo!!!!! The dollar idea is genius! The OD looks dark enough for me. Thank you!!!!

So far my favourite hase been the 707 sequel if you browse you can get it within your price range for sure it has 154cm blade with aluminum scales they are super smooth to flick open and closed

Get the grip dude. After buying many brands and tpyes of knives of all kinds of steels and titanium liner locks and all that crap, I still think the grip is an awesome knife. I dont think many knife guys would disagree with that. After giving mine to my dad I have been meaning to pick up anothet one. I have higher end knives but sometimes you just wanna carry a grip, its a cool knife that works for a great price.

It looks like you got a grip with OD scales. I think you'll be happy with it! The Axis lock is incredible.

I like the large griptillians for heavier duty work though I replaced the handles on the ones I carry frequently. Doug Ritter's versions are nice if you can handle the grips. Like Hawk45, for lighter duty work, I prefer the 940, or 941, for the modified reverse tanto blade. It just about disappears in your pocket. If you can find a used one in the $100-130 range and sometimes less. I've carried on for over 10years.
