What should be my first Swamp Rat Knife?

I was looking for a main survival blade, and my main hunting blade. I was looking at the rodent 3-6, the ratmandu, and the rodent solution. What do yall think would be the best main survival blade.

I'd take the Rodent 5 or 6 over the RMD, somebody has to throw a wrench into the machine....... ;)

I asked this same question about a year ago when I was new to Bussekin, and received a boatload of recommendations for the RMD. So, I ended up buying one as my first Swamp Rat. I wasn't that crazy about it though and ended up trading it for a Scrap Yard War Dog shortly after receiving it.

Actually, to be perfectly honest I'd rather have a Taliwhacker LE but the OP didn't mention that one. It weighs less than the Rodent 5/6, but has more blade length and a more comfortable handle, IMO. Best part is you can find them all day long on the exchange, some even below retail pricing (pure win)....... :)

RMD. I like the Rodent 4 too. However, beware, as the RMD is a gateway blade. Next thing you know you will be hanging out in back cyber alleys, pressing f5 over and over again to get your next fix. They call it GANZAA, I call it" just go ahead and take all my money."
 
Just got the rodent 4 and I love it, especially this color combo, but I still feel the rmd is a better choice for a first...but there is always room for a second or third.

 
First Swamp Rat must be the RMD, the only downside to the RMD is that you must prepare yourself to be seriously disappointed by just about every other knife purchased after it.
 
I grabbed a Ratmandeux LE off the exchange today and it is going to be my first Swamp Rat so it a regular Ratmandu gets my vote for your first.
 
Had the same question kicking around in my head last week. Ended up with both an RMD and Rodent 6 from the custom shop. I prefer a full guard and longer blade on the Rodent 6, but expect both will be sharing time as my primary duty/carry knife.

With the time and trouble it will take to get one you will save yourself a lot of money (as long as you don't start buying consolation blades before you get DS) ;)
