What should be my next Emerson, CQC-8 or Commander?

So I bought my first Emerson a few weeks ago (CQC-13) and it's really awesome, but I'm looking for a blade with a stronger tip, the CQC-13's tip is super fine and sharp, but I'm afraid of wrecking it when I put it to work.

The CQC-8 and the Commander are the 2 that best fit my taste for blade styles. I also like the way the CQC-15 looks, but the modified tanto is a bit trickier to sharpen.

I'm also a big fan of how the Gentleman Jim looks, so I'm still considering that one as well.

What do you guys think?

I've checked with my contacts in the industry, and we are pretty sure that you want a CQC-8.

I really like the handle shape of the CQC-13. Is there anyway to get the CQC-8 blade with the CQC-13 handle? Are they interchangable?

I have owned and carried both. The Commander I gave to a friend and the CQC 8 is in rotation with my Horseman as my EDC.

Bear in mind that the 8 is a BIG knife. If you are EDCing it, you might love the Horseman, or Mini-8, which is just slightly bigger than a full sized 7. That being said, I really like the blade shape of the 8. Seems like the most functional out of all Emerson shapes out there atm. I really think the 8, not the Commander, should be the knife Emerson is famous for :) Just my 2 cents.

Everyone has to own a Commander if you're an Emerson fan because it's such an iconic knife. In the same way the Cold Steel Tanto shook up the industry and forced it to change, the Commander, whilst not as impactive, is an icon.

I've got an 8 and a mini Commander. You can't go wrong either way. I carry the mini more often because of the size. The 8 is a bit easier to sharpen, you'll need a rod or triangle to sharpen the recurve edge on the Commander.

I've had a horseman, a cqc8, and a super 8. I guess you know what my answer is going to be :D

Seriously though the 8 is awesome, and will be easier to sharpen than the comander IMO

cqc 8 all the way , that knife is just awesome I just sold off my super commander, it's an awesome knife, but you get the same blade length without the recurve at about half the weight , cqc-8 is the only emerson I have left now, and i dont think i will get rid of it.

i got both and i can feel your pain LOL. but i think the cqc 8 is the one to go for....its SLIGHTLY more ergo and its easier to sharpen on stones without the recurve.
ps: my cqc 8 is the ONLY knife remained in my collection while i sold and traded others.

Had both an original cqc-8 and a commander. The commander is a more useful knife in my opinion. The 8 is a more combat oriented folder. The commander though that's a knife mate!

I bought a Super 8 a few days ago now and it is extremely awesome. I have a 2006 BTS Commander too amongst others.

To go postal or Zombie killing, it has to be the CQC-8 but for EDC and even out in the woods, it has to be the Commander.
