What should I do with a new knife I kind of don't like?

I have something with the saw cut plastic that comes on the US made Buck 300 knives, and the Old timer knives. I just can not stand the feel. I just got a Buck 301 in the mail today. I want to take off the plastic scale and replace it with some nice wood. I did this with another knife, and have attached a few pics. Should I do this with a new Buck. I really like the configuration of the this knife and how the sheeps foot ( or coping blade) is on one end by itself in stead of with the main blade. Should I put this one in the box and look for a used Buck? (It seems as if I always come up with a reason to buy another knife;))

You guys crack me up, I have decided to put some wood in this baby. I will take pics of the process as it goes.

Thanks,
John

I'd love to see those pix, John. You did a great job on that Shrade. What is that, birdseye maple?

Mammoth ivory would look good. You can find that and some stag scales around. The ever present ebay has listings for a number of knife scale materials. No doubt some of the folks on here can give you some knife maker sources for scale material.

Edited my post and am apologizing for the rude hijack. Posted without thinking.

Sorry johnwaynesandw. The work you did on those knives is top notch and I did mean to take away from it.
