Uhey guys i just recently bought an ZT 560 and im looking for a blade that is around 3-4 inch blade length that will both be more EDCable and as a backup to the ZT i have $150 +/- budget.
Thanks,
Thomas

Swiss Army Knife. Model Spartan, classic, rambler, or tinker.

Agree with this. If by "back up knife" you mean you will be carrying it in addition to your ZT, go with a SAK. It will do a lot more for you than just getting a smaller one hand opening knife. Just the flat head screwdriver/bottle opener will do a lot for you as a scraper/light pry tool in addition to being a bottle opener/screwdriver. I recommend Tinker, super tinker, farmer, pioneer, cadet models.

Backup i mean that this knife will be in my bag in case i lose, brake or dont want to use my zt but it must have the capability to use alone is a simular manner as the ZT

In that case, Rat 2s just came out. Smaller than the rat 1 but can probably take a good beating.

Spyderco sage 2 is a great knife for EDC. Have you thought about a fixed blade as backup? I rotate my izula and becker bk14 for EDC along with my EDC folder.

I already have an izula and a esee 3 so fixed blade wise i am good
Here are some knives that i like and fit my cryterea pretty well: emerson mini CQC-8, ritter grip, and zt 550 2ed gen... Any more suggestions? And i will check out the sage 2

I have to recommend Hogue.

I recently picked up a EX-01 Elishewitz Tanto in 3.5 and its truly an amazing blade.

It also comes in Drop Point and a 4" model as well, in case the 3.5 isn't to your liking.

Def take a look, you won't be disappointed.

If you're looking for something beefy like the ZT, you could take a look at the ZT 0200.
With a big beefy knife, I would back it up with something not as beefy but still extremely capable. The Sage 2 as mentioned before is a great choice. It makes a great slicer and is more people friendly, but can handle the tasks it comes across. It's also more EDCable due to its size and weight.
Maybe check out a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 - It's lighter and a little smaller than the ZT. It makes a good EDC and can handle tougher jobs if you need it to.

i really like the PM2 but they are so hard to find... the BM 940 also looks good and i like the aluminum handles. the sage 2 also looks good as does the EX-01 and the ZT 200.
i guess i need to make a decision.

Do not buy a backup knife. When you get tired of the ZT 560 that will be your backup knife and whatever you get to replace it will be your primary. :)

Hogue makes very high quality knives. I have a large EX-02 that I just put back in my pocket today. The large is closer to $200 than the $150 though. They do make a smaller version that would be close. Another knife to check out is the Spyderco Gayle Bradley.

Para 2, Native 5 (if it is big enough, I find it really handy I carry it all the time) Manix 2, Benchmade HK 14205
