What should I purchase: CQC-T? RMJ? Other?

Heyo guys, wondering what type of Tomahawk I should purchase. I like the CQC-Ts lines, but it seems like it would be hard to orient in the hands blindly; plus, I'm not too big a fan of his knives (nothing against the man himself, I just don't dig his knives for other reasons), how do his hawks hold up?

As usual, RMJ is a popular choice, and I'm well aware of the wait time and expense. The idea of a single piece is appealing, much like an SPF Halligan.

Other 'hawks? A CS Trail hawk would suffice, I'm not against the wood, but if I'm gonna go two piece, and wood, I'm thinking a hammer poll would be better? I wouldn't mind something I could throw onto my pack via a trail, but I kinda like something with a few more aggressive lines to it, because if it was just for camping and not the fabled 'zombie-defense' I could just settle for a Gransfor axe. But I would like something that holds up, can basically attack anything, and looks nice. Your suggestions, please!

Plus, any tips on searching this forum? I'm kinda having a tough time (not finding the function obviously)

David.

The search function is in the upper right hand corner, but you need to be signed in to use it. As for where to look, I would highly recommend checking out JKknives. He is a custom maker on this forum and has several one piece hawk designs that might appeal to you and his prices are very good. His subforum is over in the maker's section. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Hi David,

Welcome to the forum.
Your question is general but also tough to answer.

I would suggest you start with something simple. Ask yourself what's your application?
As a user i strongly believe dedicated tools for different purposes.

Having a Kestrel and acquiring an axe with wood handle for log chopping the choice is clear;
The RMJ is for CQC/fighting and the Cegga/GB/ insert axe brand here for wood chopping.

There are plenty of god-given talented lads around here just to name a few:
Pipeman, Churchandson, Kentucky and a whole lotta eye-popping works.
