what should my second case knife be

I cant get enough of the Slimline trappers, they are so light compact an useful

If you like carrying the Large trapper, I'd try a Large Stockman in Carbon or Stainless. Both steels have their pluses and uses.

On the other hand, as Grateful said: You can't have too many Trappers. :D

At least look at the Canoe. I love the feel in hand and pocket, it's rounded in a way that makes it so smooth. I own one, and love it.

Another I like too is the Copperlock trapper, those only have one blade, but same length as the Canoe.

Russlock or a Sod Buster are also great choices, just keep in mind that on recent production models, (in the last 10-15 years
) QC has left F&F inconsistent at best, it's always best to handle and personally examine the knife before purchasin' it.

If you do buy of the internet, check the return policy, customer service, ect, some places have restocking fees for returned items and always make sure you pay with a method that leaves you some recourse should you have a problem with a shady seller or dealer.

Otherwise enjoy the variety that the Case brand has to offer, also look into vintage gently used Case knives, I still occasionally find 'em at yardsales and fleamarkets for under $10.

You might give some thought to a Case Barlow.

The Case Sod Buster Jr. would make a nice knife too.

I just added this Mini Copperlock to the stable last week and I like it allot.

Why not one of the best made knives CASE has put out in decades other than the annual collaboration with Tony.

CV Swayback jack would be my first choice.

Canoe, Baby Butterbean, or Sway Back Jack like Mr. Bastid said. CV steel if possible, because the chicks dig it.

Baby Butterbean.

Two Tony Bose patterns which are smaller and very nice are the Swayback Jack @ 3-1/5" and the Small Saddlehorn @ 3-1/2" closed lengths.

Can't believe we made it to 12 posts before someone said it. :) I concur.

ALWAYS carry a case trapper for my main job, but I have since gotten a SBJ like that above and now I carry it on a daily basis! I never have liked small knives before and still find many not to my liking, BUT! you HAVE to have a Chestnut Bone SBJ CV! Trust me!!!!!!!!!!

Whatever it is, you should get something in chestnut bone and CV. I have a little hunch that Case put their starting lineup of elves on the chestnut bone stuff. Everything I've seen in it is almost custom level.

Carl.
