of course it depends on what one is using it for- but what are yalls opinions on something like the Gransfors bruks small forest axe
vs the scandinivan which is more of a full size? what would you bring backpacking?

I usually bring a vintage american or canadian made 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 pound on a 26-28" handle.

When flying in or backpacking in to hunt or fish for 7-14 days, I carry a Wetterlings 15 inch Small Hunters Axe and a Sawvavior. The saw is very efficient at droping and sectioning a tree. The axe is needed for limbing and splitting. They pack small and are efficient. The 26 inch would be the largest I would consider unless I was booking out for an indefinite period.

Usually throw this on my pack.

man, i have to say that i'm a big fan of the GB forest axe. i do not have the SFA, but do have a couple w/in the same size range.
the forest axe is a much more versital tool w/ only a little extra weight... it's worth it IMO...
it all depends on where your camping or hiking. their are lots of times that i do not even carry an axe or hatchet, but most times i wish that i would have or was glad that i did;)

Here's a bit more on the Roselli - a google image search will throw up lots of pics
