I've got a good local deal on a double sided fine/extra-fine DMT diasharp 6x2 and the course stone as well...

I'm not sharpening swords or huge knives... just pocket folders... biggest thing would be a Becker Campanion...

6x2 big enough?

it is

for me 8x3 are enough for kitchen knives up to 33cm so for folders and medium fixed blades 6" is good

Aaron, Yes a 2X6" stone is large enough to sharpen most any folder . Heck, I've even sharpened 6-7" sheath knives on mine . With the longer blades I like a longer stone but that size will do it . If you like the product and the business owner then go for it . Later, let us know how it worked out . DM

I have XC and EF in 6x2 and an F in 11.5x2.5.

If I were to do it over again, I would get all 11.5x2.5 stones.

7" blades give me trouble on the 6x2 stones, but they are OK with 5" or so kitchen knives, though IMO it seems to be about the limit.

6x2 is big enough. But 11.5x2.5 is so much better.

Thanks, Vassili.

I have every size, and a full set of 3x8s that I almost always use. That said, I've sharpened huge knives on 2x6 inchers, and big knives on 1x6 Duofolds.

I like the 8x3's because that's the most common stone size and in that size of DMT plates all the grits are available.

I use 6" by 2" ranging from X-tra Coarse to X-tra Fine.

I find them adequate.

I got the 6x2 F/EF double sided. I am happy with it. I'd like the bigger ones, but not ready to spend all the cash on it right now.

I already have them. They're very very nice. The weight of the heavy stone really helps in giving good cutting feedback, even on the EF (approx 1200 grit) side.

Even a little stone is "enough." I have a 8x3 I think and a 6x2. I would like to have larger ones though. Much more efficient to me. As long as you have the room for them. I do really like 8 in stones though. A much much better deal than a 6. More work can get done quicker. Atleast the way I sharpen.

+1. Though I am considering getting a EF in the 11.5" version to mount on a base and leave out in the kitchen for touch ups.
