What size Scales?

Hi guys,
I'm thinking of making my own BK2 scales. I was wondering what thickness I should start with? I want to stay around the same thickness as the original scales. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Have not decided. I really like ironwood. I have two other knives with ironwood scales. A dark walnut burl or something similar.

The highest points on the grivory is 26/64, I usually start with a block from 1/2" to 28/64 Prefferred.
