What size wheel for compound chef knife grind?

I've got a plate of .118 AEB-L and I would like to try a compound grind.

I have a flat platen and only a small wheel.

I wouldn't mind getting a contact wheel for general grinding purposes as well.

For a 2 inch-ish height chef knife what size contact wheel do you all use?

I think most are using radius platen with big radius’s like 32”

Huh, that seems big to me as it is just the top 1/2 or so of the knife but I suppose that makes sense as we are dealing with .1 ish total thickness of material.

Bill Behnke sells a 36" radius platen that folks are using for that.

Radius paten from 36" to 48" for the hollow grind and a slack belt or rotary platen for the convex.
