what smart phone runs ms word?

I would say is not the phone, but the applications, and any smartphone is capable of handling such things. But you need to install an application that does it, with a name office related. Anyway, while a program like that on a phone is good for a touch up on a document, or just plain reading, real work on those programs is not what i would recommend.

As jacktrades said, it's the app that'll give you the capability, not the phone. It won't be MS Word, but rather a program that can run/edit the file formats that the MS products use. Google Docs is the most obvious choice, being free and available for both Android and iPhone. There's others of course, but they'll cost for full functionality. They'll all be able to various MS and Adobe file types.

I too say Documents to Go. There is a free and a pay flavor. My job is 100% docs, and Documents to Go will hand MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

I use Docs To Go on my iPhone. I think it was an expensive app, though, maybe $10, but worth it because it works.

i found a few free apps on my andriod (evo) that let me read and save ms word. with the pay version i would be able to edit also. like jack said i wouldnt do much on the phone.

Any of the Windows Phones has Office preinstalled, I think it comes free.

Yup, if you want a smart phone that actually runs ms word you need a windows smart phone. I had a windows phone 5 or 6 years ago that ran word/excel/powerpoint and it worked fine, so a newer phone today should work great.

I wouldn't recommend buying a Windows Phone for Word/PowerPoint. I also had a Windows Mobile device back in the day and I remember the awful implementation of word that came with it (Samsung Blackjack). I would really suggest sticking to Google Docs. It's free, runs in any mobile browser(Android/iOS/WindowsPhone), and lets you save your docs in the cloud for no charge.

No matter what device you have, anything short of a keyboard and a tablet device is going to leave you severely frustrated when it comes to any kind of serious word processing. I understand the need to export to Word, but if you have any serious word processing to do I would consider buying a Ultrabook (MacBook Air is the best one on the market right now. It runs Windows in a dual-boot or virtual machine setting. There are other options, but according to every review i've read thus far there aren't any brands beating out the MacBook Air in terms of the quality of the experience).

Anywho, just my .02. I have found the voice dictation feature on the more recent android and iOS devices to be amazing. Watch the videos of Siri in action. It is pretty amazing how little you have to type these days if you get used to voice dictation.
