What sort of bench stone do I need for Super Blue steel?

I just picked up a Spyderco in the Super Blue steel. I never had a knife with that blade steel so I am unsure if I need a diamond stone or rods for my Sharpmaker.

Am I good with regular old ceramic rods and bench stones?

Agreed. I find it easy to sharpen with natural stones. I’d only use diamonds to sharpen out a chipped/damaged edge.

This steel can get very sharp - take your time and you can likely get a hair-whittling edge. Good on Spyderco for using such an old-school steel. :)

Thank you very much. I must admit thatI am very surprised at how thin the blade is. I can see this being a real slicer with that thin blade. I have never owned a Super Blue steel knife before so I am looking forward to this.

Water stones have a nice feedback, albeit messy.

I like to use a simple King K80 for steels like this.

Follow with green compound on a leather strop.
