What should i buy guys? My options are..

- Ka-bar D2 Extreme KB1282
- UWK Cold steel
- Cold steel peace keepers
- FGX tai pan
- Nighthawk
- SOG Seal Pup Elite SOGE37
- Benchmade CSK BM156BT
- Applegate-Fairbair Boker

I really want some advice, Thanks guys..

i have an elite and can say that its one hell of a knife...

good buy. handle was a little small for me so i wrapped it in paracord and it sits safely and securly in the SOG tac sheath with pouch.

pouch contains firesteel and opinel.

i've used a nighthawk a few times... good beater but nothing special.

blade is very thing so it makes some delicate tasks card, black coating is kinda ugly..

i'd say go with the elite ... its hollow ground (i think) and it makes a great field knife...

the aus8 is a good balance between rust resistance and blade strength i believe.

cheers

Are there any knife shops near you where you could handle some of those in person? I like the Buck Nighhawk, especially the ergonomic handle. But I can't compare it to any of the others on your list.

Also, you should make yourself aware of the state laws in New Jersey if you plan to carry any of those militaristic knives. For example, the Cold Steel Peacekeeper is double-edged and probably qualifies as a "dirk" or "dagger", which are illegal in NJ.

Happy Shopping,

Ok, The seal pup seems like a nice buy. I was a balistic seath though, i dont think it come with it. And with the ka bar, is there a straigh edge for th extreme, Cause i havnt seen one on the web.

I quote from The High Road:

"NJ state police seem to think all knives are illegal unless the carrier has an explainable lawful purpose. Legally, that probably isn't so, but it may take a court hearing, some lightening of your pockets, and some quality time in jail to sort things out."

In addition, "dagger/dirk/stiletto, auto, gravity, or balistic [sic]" knives are flat-out illegal.

Make sure that they either not leave the house, or you can deal with the police.

Also, NJ has length limits for anyone under 18 years old. Seeing that your name is BladeChild...

from your list go with the SOG or Ka-bar. where you live, well no one has advice on that one

Hey. its my EVIL post!

may i ask why you have limited yourself to the list you posted?

that aside, from your list i would buy the seal pup.

Let's regroup....BladeChild...what do you want to do with your new knife?

Hunt? Self-defense? General utility? Camp?

I own almost all of them. I would say get the Ka-Bar D2 or upgrade the seal pup to a Sog Seal Team Elite or Seal 2000. You know what better yet get one of each.

BladeChild, I'm also searching for a "little of each" fixed blade.

Of the ones on your list...I'd say Seal Pup Elite.

But, and this is a big but, the spine guard (the one on the top) would limit your ability to put your thumb on the spine of the blade, and that is an important thing to be able to do (think whittling).

Let me throw out a couple other suggestions...if you like Cold Steel, consider the SRK.

The Fallkniven F1 is a highly regarded "a little of each" knife.

I really like the DH Russell/Grohmann Canadian Boat Knife and Buck Vanguard. And the Large KaBar Dozier Folding Hunter (if a folder is an option, which it might be if you want to carry your knife around in Jersey).
