What spyderco knife is this?

I found what looks to be a spyderco civilian at the flea market today. Did it use to come in a G2 plain edge version with rubberized inserts on the handle and clip? I was very excited to find it in a box of junk knives. Paid 5 bucks.
I wouldn't believe it either, but its true.

No Spyderco never made a knife like that, especially not in plain edge

You got ripped off. I hate to see a fellow forumite get cheated, so I'll be happy to buy it off you at the full price you paid and I'll even spring for shipping

He shoots, He scores!

Those are kraton (sp?) inserts, you lucky dog.

Gary,

Welcome to the forums.

How is the knife marked? What does it say on the blade?

As you can tell from my number of posts, I am normally a lurker, but when I realized what I had, I had to tell somebody. To be honest, you guys are the only ones I know who would understand. My wife thinks I need another knife like...you know the rest.
I almost quit going through the guys box of knives. They were nearly all made in china junk. If I hadn't found my spidie co-pilot from the same guy about a year ago I probably would have moved on. It's been my money clip ever since.

and no, the civilian isn't for sale.
Thanks for the congrats.
G.

I'd say that is the leading candidate for the "Knife Buy of the Year" award.
No kidding.
That is the single best purchase I've ever heard anyone make.
I once paid $1.00 for a Henckel's integral bolster 8" carver. Excellent condition.
Yours takes the cake however.

CONGRATULATIONS ya lucky bastid!

Good find!! Hell its a Great Find!!! This one would top off the "What is the best deal you have gotten on a knife lately?" post. Keep on digging.

Whoaa guys. He never said what kind of condition it is in. It still would be a great deal, but if in poor condition, still the best deal of the year?

chad234,
of course they made it in plain edge. what are you talking about?

"come and get one in the yarbles, if you've got any yarbles."

I should have mentioned the condition. Its not LNIB of course. The clip is sorta sprung out, maybe on purpose to make it less of a tight fit in a pocket, and the kraton(?) on the clip has wear on the outside bottom.
There are a couple of dings on each end where the aluminum took a beating in that box or elsewhere. Finally, the blade looks very good except for one nick that is noticeable on one side, and hard to see on the other. I'm at work now and don't remember which side. I haven't tried to do anything with the nick yet.
I don't have any idea how to sharpen a blade like this. I have a sharpmaker but I don't think I can do it uniformly enough. Any help would be appreciated.

If I could figure out how to post a photo I would put one up. Guess I'll hunt for a faq file.

Dont even try to sharpen it, send it to SpydieVille and let Keith work his magic. Make sure you put a note in your package saying that if they feel its beyond repair to return it. Also, they could determine to replace it..some would love that, some get irritated and want their old knife back. Let them know how you feel about that too, when you send it. You'll be amazed at the great condition it'll be returned to you in.

Hey Gary,
If you have a place to host the image, then all you have to do is this.

(IMG)address of pic(/IMG)

except replace those () with []

Another easy way to figure it out is to click on the edit button for my post. You can't edit it, but it'll show you everything I posted, so you can see how the pic is in there. Good luck.
