I would be interested in knowing what started your own addiction? I thought I would share my story...
Despite being a knife enthusiast for years, my understanding of true hard use outdoor knives was somewhat limited. Being a Marine, I had a Kabar and really thought of that as my ultimate all around outdoorsman and survival knife. Don't get me wrong, it is a fine weapon and all around knife, but when I decided to vastly improve my bushcraft and survival skills, I started finding stories and pictures of broken stick tang Kabars.
As I started reading more about serious outdoors and survival skills, I started watching more videos on needed skills. I saw that the knife I really needed should be a tank of a blade and hold up to some very serious use. I needed something that was at home in today's world, but would have also been the best friend of the pioneers of the furn trapper era. I needed to be able to REALLY depend on my knife.
After reading and watching quite a few videos, I simply started searches on top knives for outdoor use. Time and again I saw some names pop up. Primarily ESEE knives and Beckers. Both seemed to make almost every list.
In the end I decided the Becker line was exactly what I was looking for. I have never regretted that decision. I now own 11 Beckers and I am always in the market for more. Soon I plan to add the BK62 to the line up. Thank you Ethan Becker for not trying to sell us on some super steel prybar, or a fancy looking fantasy blade, but really watching out for today's serious outdoorsman!
