What got you into knives? I know I have always loved them but until just a minute ago, I couldn't remember the exact moment. My exact moment was in 1971 +/-. I was about 4 years old and saw "west side story". I was sold on switchblades and/or knives at that very moment.
Now when that movie comes on it seems all those cool gang members were...as my old man would say "light in the loafers":)

You know, I remember that too... but what really got me into it was that all my everyday heroes carried knives, Buck 110s mostly... they were all truckers and firefighters and what not, very few carried fixed blades. I'm not sure where that came from.. probably some old Errol Flynn movie or something...

I got my 1st knife when I was around 4-5 as well,my dad and grandad are mechanics and I used to spend time in the garage with them,I never liked cars much but metal was a different story and I'd always fiddle with stuff, figure out how it works and eventually sharpen steel into shapes,it stayed with me forever and eventually I got enough money to buy a BK-9 and from there on I was hooked on bigger, badder and stronger knives, along with other tools/weapons.

I've loved knives as long as I can remember. My grandfather had several and I was always fascinated by them. I lived in the country, so there were lots of knives around. My whole youth I longed for a switchblade! They were the coolest. I wish I still had some of the knives from back then......

All I wanted was a folder like the one in "The Edge" with Anthony Hopkins...................... :)

As a scout, I've always used knives, but it started during the summer of 2011 (makes me late to the party huh?) when I figured that there had to be better knives than my gerber. The gerber was really bad. 440A, and it would take a lot of effort just to cut a spear, and the linerlock wiggled like crazy. Went on to a spyderco endura, and the affair began :P

"Obsession" makes it sound bad, I just like collectin' things.

My interest in the outdoors and history fuel the styles of knives that I like & seek & collect, carry & use.

Yep, went through a "tactical" phase in my younger days, too.

I've loved knives from when I was a cub scout. I had a Barlow knife when I was in 6th grade. Pretty much stuck to SACs through HS and college. It wasn't until I was in my early 30s (around 1995) that I discovered Spyderco after seeing the movie Cliffhanger. I bought an Endura Clip It (and thought I was paying big bucks). Used it happily for 15 years. Then this spring, I decided to buy a Spyderco for my son who is in Boy Scouts. Thanks to the internet I suddenly discovered the world of high end knives. At the time I had a tough time wrapping my brain around the idea of a $100 knife. After a bunch of reading and a visit to a local knife shop I ended up diving head-long into what was a long dormant knife-love. That was early this year. In the past 9 months I've probably bought and sold over $5000 in knives just having fun checking them out. I've settled down quite a bit now and distilled things down to a Hinderer XM-18.5, a Small Regular Sebenza, a Les George VECP 1.0, and a small collection of Mnandis, Les Voorhies, and Kevin Wilkins knives.

I've always had a love for sharp and pointy things. I never really watched any movies with knives in them, but I was always into survival shows like Man vs. Wild and Dual Survival on the Discovery Channel. Those types of shows always had a knife on them (most crappy), but I enjoyed watching them use them and I finally took the time and effort to start researching knives and then I discovered this awesome website and the addiction has grown since then.

I can't remember a time when I wasn't fascinated by knives. I got my first knife at a young age, joined Cub Scouts around age 5, went on to Eagle Scout, and remain an Adult Scouter and avid camper. And I love sharp things.

Children's Bible. I used to flip to all the pages with the Roman's swords.

I been a blade nut my whole life.

I don't think that I am "obsessed", but I love knives and have always carried a pocket knife for at least the last 58 years. I feel kinda "naked" without one and I use it virtually everyday. All together I probably have 8 fixed blades and a dozen folders of various types and sizes, so I don't qualify as a collector and at least half of them are crap, ... something I didn't really understand when I acquired them over the years. Now that I have a couple of good ones, I appreciate the difference in the way they handle and perform. My latest is a plain Jane small CRK Sebenza that gives me a lot of pleasure.

CRACK! Plain and simple...

When I started my crack addiction I could no longer afford collecting guns, so i shifted to less expensive knives.

I've always enjoyed knives a great deal. With that being said when my Uncle gifted me a Case Jack Knife (with the black composition handles), things changed, and I began to acquire and use them more excessively. I attribute my addiction to my Uncle, who to this day has an incredibly extensive, traditional knife collection.

Got my first knife at age 5 or 6, and loved it.
But what really started me going was my little Rainbow Folder I carried for over a year.
After I started really looking into them, spring assisted knives became an interest. And anything cool looking.
I owned several knives and actually had a couple of ones that weren't too bad.
Then I met a friend who liked knives too.
Then I got my first decent knife from him because I had wanted so bad to try one but didn't really have the cash, so I traded him for a Kershaw Nerve. I've been sold since. This was also one of his first real knives. And I just had to have it.

So I've been a knife nut for around 3 years.

But have only been into REALLY good knives for around 1-1/2 - 2.
