I was wondering what steel will be better D2 or A2 for 9-1/2" length blade (~15 OA) I read many post about HT D2. Some people say that if D2 will be properly HT, could be used for large blade. (I have some D2 :) )
And what about A2 is it proper steel for such blade?
Or maybe You will suggest different steel. (stock removal)
Thanks for help.

Thx for reply. The blade will be used for chopping. Something like Becker Brute.

Either one will work. I've made quite a few large camp knives out of D2 with excellent customer feedback. Some of the customers are hardcore users.

Thanks butch, Ron Hood is probably the hardest user of blades that I know of. He told me he has a box full of broken blades. :D
