Swords require steels that withstand impact. Emphasis is on toughness and flexibility, not on edge retention. Unless you are wanting a throwing knife or chopper, I doubt you would like a knife made from that steel.

knarfeng is there anyway 2 use that steel than glue tungster powder to the edge than add 2 more layer of the same steel sandwich the first layer. than do that thing again. a san mai style. each time yo do it you add the tungster powder just 2 the edge using glue. since you didnt melt the tungster but just melted the glue so the steel would still be flexable and hold the edge much better. sorry about my english. I know i got a confusing mind.

The person holding the sabre is not bending it, it is curved like sabres tend to be. Just look at the scabbard and you will see that what you percieve as the person bending the blade is just an optical illusion.

lol yeah you are right :D But i still wanna to know is there anyway to have a flexable steel with harder edge? like that movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon so flexable and can cut steel like mud.. I still dont even know the meaning of steel  so confusing maybe if i got the tool of a blacksmith than i know more.

I have a sword I bought from the maker in Toledo, Spain. They claim to bend each blade over a barrel to make sure it does not break or deform and it really is quite flexible. I wont try bend it like that but it is nice to know it can. I have another sword that is very rigid but its a different design and I dont know enough to make a comparison.

There is no way to do what you described.

I'm not 100% certain in this but I think Spring Steel is used in swords that require a bit of flex in them

Sorry duplicate post. Didn't think my post submitted earlier because of the "server busy" message
