What is a good inexpensive steel to use for linerlocks? What thickness seems to work best?

I have heard that 420 stainless will work if heat treated properly. Titanium seems to be the most popular material to use though. I think I remember seeing someone say that the liners need to be at least .050" thick but they prefered .080" thick stock. Try the search function, it wasn't a very old thread and it had a lot of info in it.
