What Steel?

With all the experience in here, I'm sure that someone has the answer to a question. I need suggetions on what steel to use for the hammer and anvil for a pneumatic hammer set-up? Helping a friend build one, and other the hammer/anvil set-up it is complete. Any help is welcomed. Thanks

It sounds like you are looking for a set of dies? This consists of a top piece attatched to the head of the hammer and a bottom piece attatched to the base. I used S-7 for mine. It is a bit spendy but it will withstand high impact. They are available premade, that is if you have a standard hammer. Do you have a home built or commercial unit?
Take some measurements and check out cenraurforge.com for a pretty good selection of dies. They may even tell you what theirs are made of.
