What strop should I get...

Most of my EDCs are for protection purposes and don't get used often, so it seems some stroping would keep them sharp and ready.

I've never own any strop and when I browsed through online retailers the amount of option is just overwhelming...

So what type of strop(kind of leather, manufacture, single/double sided, etc...) do you find the most effective?

With what kind of paste?

Thanks in advance!

I am actually in the market for a good strop too. I love the walnut ones posted but on a student's budget it's a little spendy for my first strop (I don't even know if I will even be able to get it to work). Any recommendations for someone just getting into strops with a small budget?

Get yourself a piece of MDF, 3/4" or 1" thick, 2-3" wide, and about a foot long. Rubber cement a piece of leather to it. Let dry, trim off any excess leather and you have yourself a strop. Then you can load it with green paste.

You can sometimes find piece of scrap leather from leather stores such as Tandy's for next to nothing..

Thanks man, I think I can fit a piece of MDF and a scrap of leather into my budget. :D
