Anyone have an idea as to what years Buck used the different style beige boxes. Example: When was the 2 piece used, same for the clam shell and the box that opens at the end.
I have several knives I am unloading, someone interested in a 67 120 wnts to know if the box is correct for the era. I have box in a clam shell and in a two piece but bought bout second hand.
Thanks

The 2 piece yellow box was used from 1967-74. Perhaps later. Your safe with that 'cream' colored box and brown lettering. There is some posted on this subject but I doubt you can find it. As it's some years back. Good luck, DM

I just checked and found new 110's with 2 dots, 3 dots and 4 dots stamps in one piece cream colored boxes. I suspect 2 dots can be found in two piece cream colored boxes. During the 2 dots could have been when the switched occurred. The 2 dots went all the way to 1980. This would put Buck in their new plant in El Cajon. A good time to change boxes and address papers. David,
Since your memory is better than mine and,

Without me actually looking, didn't Joe or Larry do a box aging article in a BCCI Newsletter a while back ? 300

Yes, I believe so. Yet, I don't recall if it was merely on the 110 boxes or the 100 series boxes. DM

Does anyone know what I have here box wise? It is 2 piece I bought it at a gun show some time shortly after 1982.

Your welcome. No date stamp? DM

When I made the post I was working form memory. I looked at the knife after. The box is not 2 piece (my bad) and there is no date stamp. I believe your assessment is correct I may have bought the knife in 1982 but not before I'm sure of that. BTW it is unused, unsharpened and pristine. I'm bad thataway

David thanks for your help. As you say there is no telling how long the seller had it in stock. I'm going with 1981. I remember 1982 because my now wife accompanied me to the knife show. That is the year we started "sparking". We've been married now for 28 years.

Agreed. You know what was going on at the time you purchased it. However, I know the knife in the photo is not a 1980 model. As I have one of those and there are some differences. So, enjoy your 120. Some folks don't but I find them very useful. DM

DDD, Yes, they had a one piece tan box for 1981-86. IN 86 it changed to a black box with white lettering. The grind changed on the 120 from a semi-hollow grind to a full hollow grind. If you ever see one you'll notice it right off. DM
