Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a new Case knife to use for EDC. I was curious as to which style of Case you all like and why. Thanks!

Of their current production slipjoints, this is my favorite. #6207W SS Wharncliffe Mini-trapper in antique sawcut bone, 3½" closed.

The #220 Jack is a favorite of mine. Also the 3207 Mini Trapper is a very practical pattern.

I like Case Copperlocks (large and small), Canoes, small Saddlehorns, Small Texas Jacks, Trappers of all sizes and configurations, Swayback Jacks, Swell End Jacks of all sizes, and Backpockets at different times and for different reasons.
That's about as specific as I can get.

I can't give a good answer from experience as I've only got three Case knives, but from all of my various slipjoints I'm extremely fond of my Small Texas Jack. My favourite of my three Case knives, and second/competing for first overall favourite slipjoints right now. Subject to change in the future of course. I highly recommend the STJ.

I have carried a CV peanut for years small easy to sharpen but I gave a CV Texas jack to a young man at work Its a nice size to carry you need to handle one :-) jake

Dclagg1 - first welcome to the Traditional Forum at Blade. The biggest surprise I have had in a Case knife recently has been the Saddlehorn. I wasn't seeking one out, I bought it because I got a deal on it at a pawnshop. It became a favorite EDC pretty quickly - very nicely made, excellent fit and finish, and perfect blades. OH

The Case Large Stockman or Sod Buster Jr. is probably my favorite, but I like a lot of them. I'm interested in trying one of the 3.5" Mini Trappers.

The one preference I really have is for CV instead of SS blades.

The MiniTrapper has been one that keeps catching my eye whenever I look at Case knives. Next would the Medium Stockman.

My 3 favorites are:

Medium Stockman. The 63032 with a pen blade instead of the spey.
Peanut
Sway Back Jack

I also like the Mini Trapper.

I carry a peanut. It's enough for my day to day needs, small enough that i don't notice it in my pocket, and big enough to be useful for its intended purpose.
Of course, it has its limitations, but like others have said, it's enough for more than 90% of the jobs i could use a knife for in a regular urban day.
What i've noticed too is, that if the peanut is not enough, a fixed blade is what i need.
That said, for more utility, a medium stockman, pattern 18, is not to be dismissed...

As you can see, dclagg1, there is going to be a wide range of responses to your question. Each person's needs for daily carry will be different.

I like medium-sized knives in about the 3 1/2" to 3 3/4" closed length range, but I may go a little above or below that range on occasion. I prefer 2 or 3 blades. I like Case's chrome vanadium (CV) carbon steel, but their Tru-Sharp stainless steel works well for me too. Choice of handle material is a personal preference thing, too. I prefer, in order: jigged bone, smooth Yellow Delrin, smooth bone, older style (70s-80s) jigged brown Delrin. I generally don't like stag, wood, or modern jigged Delrin.

Those may seem like very specific preferences, but that still leaves me a ton of choices to pick through. And to be honest, pretty much any one of them will do, if you just pick it and decide "ok, this is my pocket knife".

I've been carrying the Small Texas Jack (62032) in Amber Bone with CV steel every day this month:

Here's the same knife handle, but in the Medium Stockman (63032) in Chestnut Bone CV:

or the Mini-Trapper (6207) in Chestnut Bone CV.

Hard to tell from the pics but those are all generally the same size.

Like I said earler a peanut is great but those Texas jacks are a good choice One last thought look at a Eisenhowers if you can find one:-)

Thank you all for your feedback. I appreciate the opinions and input I received. Here in the next couple of days, when I have some free time, I plan on going knife shopping. Once I get to holding different ones in my hand and seeing how they feel, I know I will be able to pick me out a great knife. Thanks again for the feedback.

I really have another question to ask you guys. I do not want to really start a new thread so hopefully I will get the same feedback on this question as my previous one. Sorry, I am new to the site and still learning. I don't really know a whole lot about knives- that is why I joined this site. So something I noticed on here a lot of people seem to prefer the CV over SS, why is that?
