what tennis grip tape for an ak-47 fixed field knife

I recently bought a cold steel ak-47 field knife. The grip fits my large hands perfectly. I do however find the g10 grip to be a little on the abrasive side. I want to buy some tennis wrap tape, or any alternative someone here can recommend for the g10 handles to give them a softer grip. I am also concerned about how the knife will fit into the sheath with the tape on it. thanks for any help, Jeff
 
I'd probably lightly sand the scales. You may want to be especially gentle where the handle fits into the sheath or ignore that area altogether. Try 320 or 400 grit.
 
yes, sand it, it will not take much to nock down the high points.
do it on a flat surface while pressing the G10 down evenly.
