WOW,

I have seen a Seal 2k with a half ( blak/blue maby TiNi coating) anyone know what that is? It looks Kick Ass on the seal 2k!:D

Any Picks?

No clue, I've never seen one.
Can you link a picture, or give us a link?

Ron,
Could it be an older Nite Tech? The blade shape is the same (sans serrations;) ) and the bluing on the carbon steel would give the described appearance...
Sound plausible?
Rob

I need to get that off you as well!!!
That would be my guess as to the knife described... but then, what do I know???:p

Yes I received them, but I was spending some time watching Thunderball (James Bond) with my two boys. Kind of that priority thing. :)

The picture below (the first picture you sent me) has been "doctored," so though it is the SEAL Knife 2000, there is no production model like exactly this. The main clue here is that none of our SEAL Knife 2000s have "SOG 2000" stamped near the tang.

Your other picture seen below is our SEAL Knife 2000 with Kydex sheath and product box. Everything looks standard.

Operative: Are you into "Counter Strike"? Seems to me that the blade you have there is CGI. Or is it?

Krizzard, out.

- The New Testament, Revelation 13:10

Yeah...looks like it maybe a screenshot from a model viewer. The strait outline could be evidence of that though there is a chunk of the background color outta the spine of the blade indicating a sloppy selection when puttig the background in meaning it coulda been chopped from a photo. But the blade stamp, angle of the knife and, sharp contours say model veiwer to me.

BTW if any of you are gamers: I could easily make any of your favorite SOG knives for any of the popular PC first person shooters, you need but to ask. It is after all what I do for a living...I hesitate to call it work.:D

Whats counter-strike? CGI computer generated image does that mean its fake? Now that I look at it does look a little strange ;)

Counterstrike is an online video-game based on real-world weapons and realistic combat situations. Each player enters the game as a terrorist or counter terrorist and then proceed to blast, bomb, slice stab, char, and generally kill the heck outta the other players in the game. I can have more complicated game goals, but its main appeal is that it everyone in the game is a real life person not a computer character, and it has realistic wepons people are familiar with. Someone mad a Mod (modification) for the game to have the mele weapon be a SOG SEAL knife, wich I think was a cool idea and wish I had done it myself.

Actually what I think was thought of as the "Half Blued" effect of this picture is is the "Skin" in the model. The skin is a 2d picture that wraps around a 3d model to give it detail. Think if you had a block of white plastic in the shape of a seal knife, then you painted the color, checkered handle and light relfection on it with a paitbrust to make it look like a real knife....thats a skin.

One of the things about skins is that you have to fudge lighting effects because the knife wont actually be "Shiney in the game. In the game the knife would be held edge down and pointed forward making the shadow on the bottom and shine on the top. But when the knife is pointed like this it make the lighting a bit unrealistic so it looks like it is blued instead of a shadow.

Skins are my speacialty hence the name Skinwalker" (also a navajo shapeshifter that also fits the theme of what I do, making crazy game characters)

I did some reseach and D/L Counter-Strike (thank you Kazaa) Itt's a wicked game its like quake but a million times better! I just like stabbin people with the Seal 2k :D but the Seal skin is lacking something.......

Walker Ifs its not too much truble can you make either a SOG Bowie (Not a Recon) or a better lookin Seal 2k?

Counter-Strike Rocks!:)

Actually I may have just landed a side job doing some work in CounterStrike, so I will definately give it a shot while I am in there. I would rather do the SOG bowie since another guy already did the SEAL or maybe even something more unique like the Recondo. Of course you know I am quite partial to the Recon Bowie ;)

sigh....I lurv my Recon Bowie...so scary n sharp...ahhhhhhhh.

I may just throw together a couple knife models for the heck of it. Some games have the technology to do multiple texture passes and add specularity shaders to the skin. In other words I may be able to actually make the knife reflective with special effects, but some games dont because it can slow down older machines.

What I think is cool is how this fit so well with the theme of the game. CS is so popular (usually over 88 thousand people online at 1 time) for using existing military tactics and equipment that it wouldnt have been a surprise if a SOG knife shipped with the game....course there may be legal issues n stuff. But what I would do is free and considered a type of fan-art where no profit is involved, except fer funnn.

Walker you have the greatest job!

I read probably everything there is about CS in a couple of days!

Theres an upright SEAL 2k (my curent knife skin) its not bad.

Did you get a chance to work/talk to gooseman?

Are you going to be working on skins/other stuff for Codition Zero?

p.s. SOG clan for CS!!!

I dont work for CS. In fact (and I have no good excuse for this) I havent played CS before, but I gotta....I just spend so much time making games and less time playing them.

I got started doing Skins for Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 as a hobby. I was an animator/web designer for FOX untill they decided to cut their web-department signifigantly and laid everyone off. I did manage to land a job at a independant game developer who just happened to also be working for FOX. So my real job is making this (right now secret) game for FOX, but I get kicked back extra jobs every once and a while to help fund my steel addiction.

One of these jobs I might get may involve making some free goodies for CS. So I am gonna break down and give the CS world a taste of my mad-wicked fragging skillZ and send em wimpering for mercy in the corner of thier compter-rooms.

I havent met any of the developers of CS. But I got a good amount of respect for the original crew. It started just a MOD made by hobbiest like myself, and they took it to a level where it is now the most popular online FPS ever...by far. That is the dream! That is what we all strived for. But hehe...now I am pro...so wooo hooo!

You better be a badass if you wanna label yerself SOG. Those SOG/MACV special forces guys are the meanest mutherluvin soldier, assasin, "grocery clerks sent to collect a bill" that ever trampled jungle under thier boots.

5 points to whoever can tell me why I used the refference "soldier...assasin...grocery clerk..." for SOG
