What the hell is Coyote Brown?

Maybe this isn't the place to ask...but I've been looking at some gear lately and Coyote Brown is all the rage. But some manufacturers look like they are calling "desert tan" (which used to be called tan or khaki in the old days) coyote brown. Others offer both and their coyote brown looks a bit darker than the tan they offer. Some sites it even looks a bit green.
Could someone please offer some answers?

Thanks in advance - Brian

If you look at The marine corps Marpat. The dark brown is coyote brown, and the lite color is khaki.

Coyote Brown is the marine corps desert style color. The army uses it in some products, but mainly they use desert tan when it comes to webbing and such. Seems like a better woodland color, but they're gonna start using it more because it is decent in both woodland and desert environments. It would be better to call it the new OD green.

The person that said it was the new tactical black was not comparing for color match, but popularity. Remember a few months ago when everything had to be black?

Trouble is, black rarely occurs in nature and snipers know that.;)

Maybe everyone had to have it for those night operations?!?!
