Greetings all,

Cue your best 'Deep Thoughts' by Jack Handy mood...

Doing a little introspection (wow, that word a day calendar finally paid off) on the sharp and pointy things in my life...specifically fixed blade knives. As I am nearing my midlife crisis (scheduled for later this fall), I am thinking of how my modest collection has evolved just in the last three+ years I've been a member here. IIRC, when I joined my Busse count was exactly zero. Now I have several, and its the brand I most commonly find of interest. So how did I get here??

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be throwing my Randall, Dozier, NWA, or Emerson's in the trash, but I have certainly narrowed my vision in terms of fixed blades that I intend to put to good use. Does that mean that Busse makes exactly the perfect blade for every situation for me? No. I don't think any maker possibly could make such a knife because that knife does not exist. What brings me back to Busse is too things: Hard use performance and standing behind their product. It's that confidence in a possibly critical piece of gear you have that it will perform when needed. I'm not saying I need a MOAB to go on a short walk up the trail with my pooch, and that Busse knives are indestructable (they're not)...but they can do the job, and then some...

And while I don't see myself chopping trees down or hacking up cars with a Busse, I'd say its a spirited group of fellow knife owners that enjoy such things, and that can be a fun community to roam around in.

Alas, my trail time has been way to little these past couple years...I do need to put some gravel in my travel so to speak (Rodney Atkins 'Take A Back Road)...so when the opportunity for me 'unplug' and turn the cell phone off comes, it'll probably be Danners on my feet and a Busse on my pack.

Alright, we now return you to your regularly scheduled program...

Well said my friend! I like the "gravel in my travel" line. . . .

I'm gonna use that line quite often and when folks ask me if I made it up, I'm gonna say, "Yes I did" . . . . because I'm a Jargon Pirate. . . and pirating other folk's jargon is what I do! :D

Let's Drink!!!

Jerry :D

.

Awesomely Expressed! I resemble some of that and will be emulating Jerry in his piracy. That line is sig-line worthy.

Yeah , that's the thought of the day if there ever was one . Well put !

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

I have Got to Agree, the Gravel in the Travel is a very good line, Dirt roads and Muddy Waters get you to where you are.

Thanks gents...

Feel free to pirate me, but in full disclosure, I gotta give credit where credit is due (a tactful way of admitting I'm not talented enough to think if myself)...I borrowed the gravel/travel from the Rodney Atkins song Take A Back Road...GREAT SONG and I thought it was fitting considering the topic.

Good video too, check it out on the Tube.

A Busse or two in your pack is always a good thing. Mine have never let me down.
