Well I recently revived my old love for pocket knives and I've spent a few nights on the couch with the laptop on Ebay. So far the mailman has brought me some great new knives. (If someone wants to take pitty on a new forum member and point me to your picture posting how to?):

Victorinox Pocket Pal (medium sized blade and fine blade only): Love it! A gentleman's pocket knife with great Vic genes!

Spyderco Honey Bee. Just looking at the quality on this little $6 ebay find I can see Spyderco is deserving of the good name they have. Think I need to sample a tenacious soon.

Victorinox Classic with Alox scales. Obviously I already owned several classics but this is my first Vic with Alox. It won't be my last!!! Pocket Perfection!

A Browning frame lock. Heavy as lead. Paper fileting sharp. Very pretty knife.

A cheap Gerber framelock from china. Black Finish. Razor razor sharp. Will probably be my camping trip knife this summer.

A Winchester STainless Steel frame lock with wood handle inlays. Nice EDC for opening boxes, etc.. at work. Sturdy thick blade.

I want to remind you that none of the knives above cost me a full $20 bill, including the shipping. Some where as cheap as $12 total and the most expensive was actually the pocket pal, at about 18$ total. (I'm a sucker for a Vic, so I don't mind).

I also got a Frost Cutlery "True Blue" tactical frame lock. WOW. Not even in the same league as the above knives. It cost me $6 total and it was probably about $5 overpriced, mho. The blade is actually nice but the frame itself and the locking mechanism are sooooo sloppy and flimsy. This is the only knife out of the group with I would not give as a gift for fear of the recipiant being hurt by the knife failing him. There are about a billion different Frost tactical lockers on Ebay for under $10 and to me it looks like all that changes is the handle color and the blade profile. Are the frost slipjoints (like a jigged bone knife) any better built?

I'll let you know what "follows me home" in the next little while too. I'm craving a Vic Mini-champ, maybe a signature, probably a sentinel, Swisschamp, maybe a Solo if I can find one. Also debating to get a Spyderco Sharpmaker or a Lansky system. I can do an OK job on my stone I have now but I think I would benefit from a system to keep my angle more consistent from stroke to stroke.

Lol, I've never bought a Frost Cutlery. I have the Lansky system and it works well. Usually. I think some steel types just don't like being sharpened with a system. :)

Get the spyderco sharpmaker.... and not sure about your existing collection.. but maybe cut back on all the $10 cheap blades and save up and get a nice $50-$60 blade? Quality over quantity until its quality and quantity :)
