is a sticky containing heat treat recipes or links for all the common steels we use. Sure many of the steels knifemakers use get HT tweaks here and there from one maker to the next, but there are standard recipes for all of the cutlery grades of steel. This would give newbies and the idly curious an easy to find reference point to start from. It could also be used for those of us who are looking to try out a different grade of steel.

Just a thought...
(We could use a shoulder shrugging emoticon too.:D )

All the best,

look in Technical

maybe if we call it Bladeforums Technical for Makers, Spark will
sticky it:) :D

My favorite subject. Aside from saying that, I believe the vendor's data sheet(s) to be a good starting point but I do understand your statement about having it available here in a lump pile for different steels.

if your going to trade for some relish it might as well be a horse cause you're going to need a place to sleep after you eat it... and i'm sure no-one will want you in the house, you can have the horses bed.

I bet IG could use his relish for rocket fuel, etching steel, disolving gold, and as high explosives. Just jokin',IG! I am sure it won't dissove gold, just vaporize it.

Glad to see we're able to stay on task here, fellas. :p :D

I imagine quenching in relish would smell interesting though and even better in some gooey gumbo.:p
HEY! If the gumbo or relish is hot enough maybe we can get some Bainite goin'!

Okay, I do not measure anything so here you go, Should wear gloves when working with Habenro's.  I put everything thru a meat grinder.
HEAT TREAT'G RELISH

90% HABENRO
10% CAYENNE OR SMOKED PEPPERS
KOSHER SALT
BALSAMIC VINEGAR
GARLIC
BASIL
OREGANO
WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
EV OLIVE OIL

Is that a real recipe for your relish, IG? OMG I don't think I could even eat some, much less eliminate it out the other end!

it's so hot
I'm surprised you don't get spontaneous combustion with it..
it must be the WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE keeping it from flaring up.

:D
