What time is it? It's 530 BM

I recently bought a 710, it was a little too big for EDC, so I got a 530. The 530 is incredible. This knife's distinguishing quality is it's thinness. The blade is like .09 mm thick, you would think this would make for a weak knife, but it's so sharp, whatever your cutting gives little resistance.

It's blade is a 3.5 dagger, but the knife feels much smaller than that. The axis-lock is altered to fit into the slim handle, so can't do all your usual axis-lock tricks. It does still open and close one handed.

To me this knife is reminiscent of the Green Destiny from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Super thin, super strong, and laser sharp.

It is so big and so small at the same time, it could easily become your EDC. Anybody else have one?

I have 4. 2 in 440C and 2 of the upgraded versions in 154CM.

Thanks for your post, I've been touting this knife for a long time and no one seems to listen. A total winner for EDC, in my view.

BTW, the blade is 3.25".

I looked at the 530 while I was shopping for my first Benchmade but ended up buying a 551 Grip, which I love, which led to the 710D2, which I love even more. But after reading your posts now I have to try the 530. 1.9 ounces and thin, it could be tucked in a shirt pocket.

The 530 is a great little stash knife, you can hide it anywhere and just have it there. With a light caressing flick it opens up to reveal a superb slicing edge. I wish they had one in either S30V INFI or D2, 145CM doesn't quite have the edge retention that one would appreciate in such a small knife (the more you sharpen it the smaller it gets and fast).

I had one for a short time. I can appreciate a slim knife, but the thumb studs and the axis bar should stick out just a hair IMO. And the studs cut into your thumb. Great knife for the price though.

I have one in 440C. It makes a great shirt pocket knife. I plan on getting another one soon. My son keeps borrowing mine.

My first "real" knife. I think one of the most underrated Benchmades. A GREAT little knife that cuts better than almost any other I have owned. Its thin blade is its strength.

I just bought a used 530 from a fellow forum member. I really love this knife.

The one I have is 440C which is fine with me. It came rather dull but I had it push cutting free hanging hair in about 10 minutes (the thin blade and the 440C make it a snap to sharpen). Being a tinkerer I decided to take it apart and clean and oil it. Now I can take apart and reassemble my BM 710 in 10 minutes or less. The 530 was a bit trickier. On the 530 two things make it a lot harder to reassemble. One is the sliding lock bar, it is one solid piece and has to be threaded through the liner. The other is the fact that the components are smaller. I tried a few different ways to reassemble it but ended up putting it back together without the blade and washers and then sliding in the blade and then the washers and then pushing the pivot in. It was definitely a little tricky.

You really have to handle one of these to appreciate how small but sturdy it is.
