Hello-
I'm going to buy an everyday carry folder and I think I have narrowed it down to Masters Of Defense. Everything I have read about them says quality. Any advice for a qualitity SD/Utility MOD would be greatly appreciated.
I have large hands, but don't want a knife that is so big it is hard to conceal etc. The AFCK comes to mind as a little large for daily carry. Any advice on the: CQD,Trident,Tempest,Hornet.
Thanks.

Welcome to the Forums, Todd! I had the good fortune to be able to handle all the MOD folders before choosing one. If you can, this is the way to go. I chose the Tempest, it just felt better to me, and I liked the overall look best. Quality on mine is excellent, all aspects. Good luck, let us know what you get and what you think of it.

I carry an AFCK everyday. Maybe you might want to look at the mini-AFCK's. If you like smaller folders take a look at the benchmade 730. It has a 3.6" blade. What do you plan on using the knife for? BTW: Welcome to the forums.

BM-730! Axis lock is da' bomb! You don't even have to use the thumb studs on this, just get used to sliding the lock and the blade can be flicked out like a gravity knife. Axis locks have a lot less quality control problems out of the factory because the parts don't need to be quite as precise as a liner lock mechanism. For $100, you can't go wrong with this knife. I have tried a Stryker before. Very smooth knife as well.

I have handled a Tempest. Nice knife. I plan on buying one.
I carry a BM 705sbt. This knife is the heat.
Don't rule out Spydercos. I have a Delica, a real workaholic.

Camillus CUDA is my daily carry. The wow factor!

You should also consider the Mirotech mini SOCOM. This is a great knife, but if you have big hands it might be too small!

Thanks to everyone with the great advice. I received a private email from someone who said to check out the crawfordknives.com web site and take a look at some of their knives.

Well, I did and just bought the Kasper Combat Folder. Wow!! It looks great and should do the job. If not they said to send it back no problem.

Thanks again.

Todd- Imagine the response you would have got if we knew what kind of price range you were talking about!

The Kasper is a true fighting knife, and a great design as such. I don't fight with knives often enough to want to make that my primary consideration (understatement).

I found the Kasper to be far too wide and too heavy to carry comfortably in my front jeans pocket. I bought one 2 years ago when they came out... sent it back. I like the Crawford Shark better.

Under MOD, the Trident looks to be the best design:
1. Plenty of belly for chores.
2. Good looking spear point grind that looks strong.
3. Good looking handle that should serve fine.

Tempest looks good also for my vote at #2, losing out only on appearance of blade tip toughness and on less belly than Trident.

The Hornet only has a 3.1" blade and has too much going on in the handle for my tastes (not finger grooves, but what are those curves?)

The Dieter? Man, I don't get it. Short blade, long goofy handle with some kinda cord cutter? ACHOOOObull****.

The Graciella Boggs LadyHawk is a pure ripper defense wise, but I need utility for 99.9% of what I do, so this isn't anything I'd wanna own. She designed it for women to use as defense weapon, not for really cutting anything (hawkbill) you'd typically run into (some carpet knives are hawkbills I guess).

I have a trident and a hornet. Both are excellent quality, but the hornet seems a little small for my medium sized hands. I would recommend the trident. Awesome design. Exceptional quality.
