Hey everyone,
I was wondering. i am consolidating my 2 knives into one, and it is going to be either a ZT 0200, or 0500. what would you guys suggest? i live on a funny farm, i mean fruit farm:D, and so i need to cut suckers and blackberries and such. that makes serrations nice but not mandatory. i will be beating this to a pulp, so I kinda like the MUDD ruggedness. However, i also like the 4 inches of 154 cm that comes with the 0200. what do you all think?

welcome to the forums! the zt 500 doesn't come with serrations. don't know about the zt 200 does either.

buy a case pruning knife. if you need something that will open with one hand buy a spyderco salt.

This will also be my edc, so a pruning knife is not an option. i know i am going to get a bit of hate for this, but i am not a fan of spyderco's designs, so i try to avoid them.

The ZT-O500 MUDD knife is discontinued by Kershaw.I think you may be able to get one if you act soon. That is something to think about.
The ZT-0200 is still in the ZT lineup.
The ZT-0200 is the more robust of the two.Is very secure in the hand. The ZT-0200 felt better in my hand than the MUDD knife(ZT-0500) but that is a very subjective thing.

the zt knives are quite heavy to carry. I don't know if that's a problem for you or not, but a heavy knife can get to be a PITA after a long day of work. what's your budget?

I like the 0200, and i don't want the hassle of getting a mudd. weight is not an issue for me. I am used to carrying around about 9 oz of knives on a daily basis, so 8 will not be a problem. my price range is about 100 bucks, but this looks worth the price jump.

welcome to the forum steven, check out Great Eatern Cutlery .com. the 2 bladed pioneer mdl 23 will cut as long as you can swing it.

lol, i used to be like this...i found spyderco's blade shapes just kinda annoying. but then a friend of mine got a delica and when i handled it i reformed my ways :D

well anyway, a good knife besides for those in the ZT line would be the ritter griptilian, or an ontario RAT-1 if you want tough for cheap

The ZT 0200 is a great knife, and it is made with partial serrations. It's a beast of a knife, and so well built that you don't feel guilty putting it through it's paces.

It does tend to be a little on the heavy side, but that really never became a factor for me.

I use mine around my property when I need to do the dirty work.

This is going to be my primary carry, simply because it is tough and elicits ooh and ahhs from all my knife loving compadres. i will probably keep a karambit as a backup, but this will be the primary. i have been told by people that a plain edge can do everything that serrations can, but I really have had times where a bite into that blackberry vine would have helped quite a bit. should i get a plain edge, or should i get serrations?
