I have a para 2 that I have hand sharpened. I can take a hair, hold it up, and with a bit of swing the para 2 will cut the hair. What should I call this level of sharpness. I know it is as least hair popping, but is this a new degree of sharpness?

not really a new degree. check out a shave ready straight razor. you can do the same but much easier. i have really tough beard and moustache hair and i can take a shave ready razor and pass the hair over the edge and you hear a "tink" and the hair is cut. you can keep cutting as short as you dare go with the hair.

so then this is still just hair popping sharp then

its not bad. i can work up a burr on an 80 grit belt and get it to treetop hairs. give that one a try :D

So this is the "tree topping" I've read about. I can do this with a beard hair, but haven't been able to do a head hair yet.

Yeah beard hairs are fairly easy to cut because they are so coarse. A blade still has to be very sharp to do it, no doubt about it.

But doing a head hair is a different story. That's my fiancee's VERY fine blond hair also.
