Although I already have a 13C26 SANDVICK BLUR , I am tempted to get another one. I just love this BLUR !

CPM-154 BLUR is 65$

S30V BLUR is only 6$ more ...71$

CPM-154 MANIX 2 is 74$

All made in US...
At first sight , the best offer seems the S30V version of BLUR .
Though I largely preffer the nice orange colour of the CPM-154 BLUR.

Another question : in terms of holding the edge ...is it a bigger difference between the S30V steel and CPM-154 one THAN between the CPM-154 and 13C26 SANDVICK ??

Thank you in advance for all your advices !

The Manix 2 is 154cm.

I'd base my choice on how the knife feels in my hand.

Steel is nice, but I only base a purchase based on the steel when I want to try that particular metal.

I don't like the Blur, so I'd go Manix 2.

S30V is superior performance-wise. From what I've read, the main advantage of CPM 154 is that it takes a better finish. Of course CPM 154 is still very good performance-wise, just not as good as S30V.

I see your choice here is steel v. design. From a steel point of view, your average user probably wouldn't see much real life difference between any of the steel types mentioned. Frankly, I like them all. However, from a functional design point of view, the Manix 2 wins hands down, IMO.

If you like the AO opening, S30V Blur the best choice IMO.

I'm not a big fan of the Manix2 (because it is NOT a Manix - in terms of HD use, like it's predecessor :(, but thats's only my opinion). But the CBL lock is very stong, it's a fact.
The cpm154 Blur also a good "all rounder" - easy to maintain, holds the edge well. :)

i'd go with tha manix :D
as for the steels, i sharpen all my knives the same way but my s30v is just a pain, i can't get it as sharp as my 154cm knives

I like all the knives. To me, the Blur fits my hand better than the manix 2. The manix 2 lock will probably last longer under extremely hard use, but in my case that wouldn't be an issue as I don't tend to use folders hard like I would a fixed blade. The famous Kershaw W&R would take care of any issues anyway. The Spyderco also has a good W&R dept.

The Blur is a slightly longer blade, which I like. Not really much difference to get excited about to be honest. It has assisted opening, which isn't really a plus or minus to me, but it is to some.

The blade steels are all good. The CPM 154 is a bit better than it's ingot version, 154cm. S30V, is, S30V. They are all good, and will do the jobs I need. I sharpen with diamond hones so none are difficult for me to sharpen.

The best way would be to try them out in your hand if possible. One will work better for you. Everybody is different. That's how I would decide as they are all in the excellent knife for the money category IMO.

To be honest I have one of each and like them all very much.

I find the Manix 2 a little to big for edc, I'd go with a Blur. I doubt you'd be able to see any difference between S30V and CPM-154CM, so just go with whichever one you like better.

Both are good knives, but I would lean toward the Blur. the Blur has been my EDC for the last six months.

Also, don't forget the newer ZDP Blur.

+1

I love my Blur CB ZDP-189/Sandvik. Takes a wicked edge and keeps it for a LONG time. It is about $8-12 more than the Manix so it is not out of reach plus you can get a blem from Kershawguy here in the Exchange for like $55 shipped if you wanted to save money.

ZDP-189 has 3% Carbon content and I believe has the highest amount in the stainless steels so it will give you the best edge retention. It is in the realm of S110V (2.8%). But it's also harder to sharpen.

I agree with those that say go based on how it feels in the hand. The s30v holds an edge longer but depending on what you use your knife for it may not make a huge difference.

I have a Manix 2 and I have Blur's in S60V and ZDP steels. Others in this post have commented on the steel worthiness etc. I haven't used any of them long enough to make a comment on which is better in that regard. As far as ergonomics I can tell you that the Blur's are EDC'd far more often than the Manix 2. Don't get me wrong, I really like the Manix 2, it's built like a tank. The Blur's are thinner, fit my hand better and to me, easier to EDC. And I really like the AO.
Just my 2 cents.
