What to do about BM905 liner lock problems?

Hey folks,

Well, I got that 905 Mini-Stryker in the mail today. I got it through a trade. Now that I've opened and closed it a few times I see that if I open it too hard that the liner lock wants to go almost all the way to the other side of the blade. I have heard that this can be a problem, I however never thought it would be a problem with a Benchmade. I have ZERO problems with my 880BT and it has a liner lock.

What would you do in my shoes?

Do I tell the guy who traded it to me about it? Not sure how he would take it.

Do I send it back to Benchmade? Will they even do anything?

Do I ignore it? I don't want to because I don't want it to fail on me.

Please help.

Thanks,
David

Send it to BM, it probably wont fail, just go to the other side

What do you mean it will not fail? Is it OK for it to go to the other side? If it is then I don't need to do anything with it :)

Well, check this out...

I have to say that I'm pretty pleased about this. I decided (against my better judgement) to take it apart some what and clean it. I did just that. Took it apart, washed it with dish detergent and hot water. Then I rinsed it off nicely and dried it. After that I blew it out with compressed air and put some Miltec-1 on it. After working it back and forth for a bit all seemed well. I tightened the pivot screw so it feels perfect and now it locks up like a champ. Some dirt or something must have been stuck somewhere making it act up.

Go figure. It needed a good bath, a drying off, and some oil.

Dang I love knives.:D

If it goes to the other side, it wont slip off (well, try a gentle spine whack on your hand) Gunk on the stop pin and the pivot being loose will do it ()
