I got my Bushcraft 2nd in and I like it well enough for $90. The handle feels as nice as everyone has been saying and it isn't cracked badly at all. Really sharp and cuts nicely. I haven't put it to real use yet so I can't really say if I like it overall but one thing I don't like at all is the sheath.
Maybe it's just mine but once the knife is pushed (and I do mean pushed) all the way in, it's ridiculous to get it out. The first time, it required two hands! I suppose it could need a good break-in but there are other reasons that I'd rather just abandon the sheath altogether. To me, it seems huge for the size of the knife and is generally bulky. After wearing it on my belt for a day, it even caused a sore spot on the back of my thigh from getting into and out of my truck. I basically just don't like it.
So my question is, what should I get instead? I'm thinking about having MDP make a nice concealex sheath for me which should pare down the size, and weight and also increase the carry options. I do like the idea of leather and I know there are plenty of great sheath makers out there so that's an option. I also thought about ordering some leather and trying my hand at building my first sheath around it. Any thoughts?
