For as long as I can remember even when I buy a new knife there's already a knife that I have to have next. But lately I haven't seen anything I must have. I keep looking through the exchange but nothing jumps out at me. Anyone else ever have this problem?

Not even a little.:)

Just wait for it. Will hit you right between the eyes. Or, something less expensive to tide you over as you wait for inspiration..SAK, Opinel, ....traditional..?

If your a true junkie....it will come.

Sometimes I need to go to flashlights, boots, backpacks, fixed blades, sprint runs, hats, jackets, shirts. I always end up finding something new to chase.

Happens to me too, that's when I feed the Gun, flashlight, G-Shock, boots, ammo, pack, addictions and research to see if there's anything I " need " for my F-350.
I've never made it completely through my list of other addictions before coming home to the knives. Sometimes all I need to do is start reading about the next rifle before I realize that I could buy some very nice knives for that much money - and it'd be cheaper !
Then I start doing my math like the Government and start telling the wife how much money I saved by only spending this much on some knives instead of that bigger amount on the rifle. I don't know how the Fed convinced everybody that they saved money by spending less, I can't get my Wife to understand it that way :)

Thankfully she's understanding and I have 2 nice customs coming very soon.
Oh, try Tomahawks, that is usually my first step. It keeps you on the forum which is a plus and I've often found nice looking knives to get me back into collecting in the posts that others make in the axe/tomahawk sub section.

I've got a couple on pre-order got a felling there both gonna hit the credit card at the same time. Till then I'll just enjoy the ones I have right now and check the exchange.

Maybe move up a little. Started buying higher end knives so I haven't gotten anything for about half a year now and I feel content for the most part with what I have now (ZT0801). Next on my list is either a Spyderco Techno or CRK Umnumzaan.

TRW,

Perhaps go/try this route : Here is what Jeremy of JKL Knives did with my old (found in the trash) broken "Old Hickory" Butcher Knife.
SCARY sharp! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dtZhlUNuzOI/UxN6iAqkADI/AAAAAAAADxQ/p3Y8EZqqAp8/s1600/IMG_7766.jpg

Also, it's been a real challenge (and fun) hitting the "Flea Markets" in search of vintage Butcher and vintage Chef Knives. I found two awesome FRENCH made vintage Chef Knives on the cheap this Summer. A ten inch SABATIER and an eight inch "ACME".

From 06 to 08 I was in a knife buying frenzy---till I found what works for me

Now its years between purchases---if I really get the urge I'll sometimes pull a NIB blade out of the collection and start using it---I did buy a new knife last week though and have been using it daily.

I'm with ya. If I see another "new" ti frame lock I'm gonna scream, can't these people think of something original? My god, they all look, and function, the same.

I've actually been buying a few new slip joints, just because they're different. I got a 3 Rivers LTC200 and a Spartan Nymph. They are interesting.

I also bought a Boker Oberland. The liners are almost as thick as some ti frame locks, bit having the scales on it gives it some personality. The blade is different too.

I'm waiting on some "coming soon" items because the same old, same old, stuff is really getting boring.

I gotta ask, what did you find that works for you so well? One of these days I am really going to actually start EDC'ing a knife and sticking to just that knife for at least a few months if I can.

Step out of your comfort zone, if you stick to mainly folders, get a decent sized fixed blade or a custom. Hell, get a sweet Kukri (sorry to those H users)
