My wife bought me a RC-4 for my birthday which is 2 weeks away. It showed up a few days ago and I think I’ll go crazy waiting until she gives it to me.

What are some of your ways of handling the waiting for a new knife?

Drugs and alcohol are not acceptable options, and I already read the forum every day and get out and use the knives I have as much as possible.

I’m really looking forward to the RC-4 becoming the centerpiece of my wilderness/bushcraft kit.

I'm waiting on a Lite Machete & arrowhead. I thought for sure they would be delievered today but no. Now I have to wait till Monday:grumpy:

Order a 3 or Izula and get it and play with it while you're waiting for the 4. :D

You could try building an improvised shelter on your front lawn that allows you to practice your shelter skills and allows you to stalk you mailman/ UPS man and meet them at the sidewalk. Take a good pair of binos with you also. While out there you can build a fire and practice your fire starting skills since you'll have the time and need the heat. Other than that there's always all the nervous habits that we all have that you can practice up on.

Yeah but the OP's knife is already delivered... the wife has it.
Try this tell her your doing some role playing games in the bedroom.
Give her a nice new piece of lingerie.
Handcuff her.
Then go find the knife and have fun! :D

This is very tempting, especially becasue I get the mail, so my wife wouldn't know it came.

I may just have to spend more time in the woods behind my house.

Polishing brass is always a good diversion for me, and it's pretty much a never-ending chore. Of course, you kinda need to have a lot of knives with brass furniture for that to work.

Use your existing knives and build yourself a wilderness hideaway....Then go to living "wild" for the whole time she makes you wait. You'll be pretty preoccupied surviving. :)

Get a big picture of an RC-4 and sit around looking at it letting out a big sigh. She may get tired of hearing it and let you have it early.

Worth a shot.

Good news!

I have negotiated an early birthday celebration-My family is choosing the meal and desert, and I am preparing it. In exchange, I'm getting my gifts, including the RC-4 and strop almost a week early:D

I still have to survive till next Saturday:confused:

practice tieing knots,lots of knots

then when your sick of tieing knots, your knife will be there for you and you can cut all of your damned knots!!!

Tell her you're going to buy another piece of gear every day until she gives you the knife, that way you'll get it early ;)

Edit: Good job on the compromise, very sly!

Well I just ordered a new cam, 3 and izzie, I gave my 3 to my little cousin cause he does alot of dirt biking, I said, dude you need a knife! So now I am knifeless hahaha. Its all good :)

I was on chat box with Eon, Gundude, and co when I was at the peek of my impatience. lol. I drew on paper, which I dont do often anymore, drew in photoshop, was designing new bike frame, also found cooking distracting, HW for school however? KILLED ME. Its like it slowed everything down.

I went to watch Green Zone too while waiting, it didnt help. Worked on a few client cars, ugh. Time is not a good thing while waiting, it can literally hurt. BE STRONG! :)

Get a good bushcraft skills book. Also get a lot of 550 cord and learn how to do a bunch of knots and braids. I find making lanyards and braclets take up some time.

Matt

i feel your pain! i'm waiting on my izula and i spent the weekend cleaning up the shop and planning what to do with it. went to woodcraft looking for desert ironwood for scales but no luck. hey- mailmans here!!!

This is the time when you do a bunch of bushcraft with the knife you currently use, that way you'll have a good baseline of comparison when your ESEE-4 arrives.

Waiting on a RC6. Easter holiday delays have only added to the twitches and shakes. :P
