What to do with a bloody great big Fresnel lens?

I was out for a walk earlier, and I came across a big screen television that someone had dumped roadside (I hate that!) It was busted up enough that I was able to harvest the lens and bring it home. Yay! it's a little more than 3x4 feet.

Now then, what should I do with it  Sure there's the old stand-by of setting 2x4s on fire, but is there anything more constructive? To give you an idea of the potential here, there are videos on YouTube of guys melting fricking concrete with lenses like these.

Also, can y'all give me some ideas of how to frame it? Ideally, it should be ridged, but lightweight. Oh, cheap too. And pretty:rolleyes:

Yeah, that'll come in real handy here in Missouri (might piss off the tree-hugger neighbors, though. Hmmm. . . :D)

Get a piece of steel and burn a hole through it.

I made a 3' one into a coffee table years ago, gave it away on CL when I moved out of the City.

berzerker has the right idea. Make some sort of solar oven or collector with it. Maybe you could use it to make a preheater the water for your hot water heater.

Send up signals to Batman, or just hit it with a wrench.

There was that episode of Friends where the obnoxious old guy below them died, and he had one. You could just hold it in front of your junk for enhancement value.

Mount it in your bedroom or bathroom... you wife (or close friend) will think you're John Holmes.

On second thought, it's probably a wide angle lens... never mind, they'd just laugh.

Put on an Arc Welding Helmet, and use the blinding spot of sunlight you create to melt metal.
