I just found one of my laser operators stash of an old part we used to make. The material is annealed .060" thick C1075. When I saw the 50 or so blanks my mind just exploded with ideas, and I am having a hard time narrowing down what I want to do first. I immediately thought carving knife; Santoku; steak...

What knifes would you make(metal removal) out of .060" thick 1075?

Filet knife, steak knife, bread knife, chef's knife....

Kitchen cutlery would be the best idea.

Of course, if you are really inspired, you could get it all hammered up and forged into damascus. :D

A "true" Nessmuk knife is made from thin stock. If he needed to chop something he preferred to use his hatchet.

Just wondering how much of this stuff you have. If you have enough, I wouldn't mind trading some 15n20 with you. If you are interested>

Damn, wish I would of noticed this thread early, I was just out your way today for work. I would of stopped by and offered you some cash for some of that! I have some drawings for B&T knives that would work in .060". Maybe buy some cheap folders at the flea market and reblade them in decent steel.

i have about 500-600 pounds of 1075 in 3/16" and 1/8" thickness :p:D.

i like the steak knife idea

Wow thanks for all the ideas.

I'll see what I have left after getting into some serious cutting here, and let you guys know.

Okay, I cut out some blanks. (see below)

I have a quick question about heat treat. What heat treat procedure would you guys recommend for a steak knife or 4? If I could use a brine solution it would be a plus.

Nice, Carl! Any inclination to sell a set of those blanks? I think it would be awesome to make a set of steak knives to match my Wustoff kitchen knives.

I could probably make you a set. PM me.

I'll probably do a giveaway here. I need to use Johnnymacs tip "add on" for the next batch.
