What to do with broken knife?

I have a folding knife that is broken. The handle is what broke (long story, but it was my own fault), so the blade is just fine, and I don't really want to throw it away (mostly for sentimental reasons). I don't have any knives with handles that the blade will fit in, and I'm in a creative rut. Anyone have ideas on what to do with the blade? Any help would be much appreciated!

Well, a lot of the ideas would probably depend on what kind of blade it is, and what kind of knife it came from. A slip-joint is obviously going to have different options than a lock-back or a liner lock.

Pics would be VERY HELPFUL ( ) for this question. I'd bet you'd get a lot more input, depending on what the damage looks like.

Perhaps mount it in an entirely different handle? Or given the price of the knife series, just buy a new one and swap out the blades?

Might be able to find a used one cheap on the 'bay, with a damaged/heavily-worn blade. That might be the simplest way to do a swap. As mentioned, it shouldn't be very expensive. There might be some blade play issues after a swap (might not mesh perfectly with the lock), but you'd still likely have a functional knife.

I think I can get another one for almost nothing, but I'll have to wait for a while. Thanks for the help!

I just made my svord peasant folder into a fixed blade by using that extended tang into wooden handles i carved. I then used wood pins and jb weld to fasten it together. (google the knife and you will see what i mean by a folder having a tang)

Perhaps you can do something similar in this case?

The first pin would go through the pivot hole. You will probably want a second hole where you can place a second pin will make sure it is fully fastened in your knife. Ideas for the second hole can be the thumb stud removed? or perhaps just drill a slight hole in the handles where your thumb studs can fit and hold the knife?

Of course it'll never be as strong as a full tang knife but just tossing out ideas mebbe at more sentimental value =D

hey us creative runts gotta stick together =)
