Well as the title says im curious what others do with their old edc's, and possibly what i might do with mine. i dont have anything worth selling or trading, of the few i have they probably have sentimental value, or are still carried as i now am up to 6 knives i generally keep on person with a few to spare for rotations, but i digress, what do yall do?

Trade them or give them away to someone who may appreciate them. If you just can't let them go, work out a rotation so you can keep using them all.

That would be up to the individual and me myself I only use about 6 knives I own at any one time. I've stuck a couple of users I knew I was finished with on eBay, as they still had life left and keeping a used knife I don't use is pretty useless! (always keep the box it helps when you sell it a lot) I like to replace users after a year or two and try new models out so that works for me.

I either give them away or throw them in a gym bag or glove box and only use them in certain limited situations.

If I can't bring myself to trade, sell or give away, and they'll never get back in the EDC rotation, they go in vehicle glove boxes, backpacks, and tool boxes.

I sharpen them and put them back in their boxes and keep them in my closet since I only carry one knife at a time. But its always fun to open the boxes up and play with your old beat up edc blade.

EDC's are usually field proven - so the good ones go into BOB's or GHB's. Nothing better as a rainy day knife than an old reliable friend.

I have spare bugout bags set up in the event some catastrophe happens. As I buy knives-folders, fixed blades of all designs and sizes... and get a feel for their capabilities, and find the niches I'm looking for for my 'perfect' combination, I add them to spare bugout bags. I have five works in progress at the moment, will be starting a sixth as funds allow.

I just keep on using them.

Top one is over 100 years old, bottom one is 40 to 50 yo. They both get carried and function quite well.

Some I give away

Some get sold

Some get used for experiments (learning new sharpeniing techniques, mods)

Some become beaters to be used with no care or regret

I usually put them back in the box, always keep the boxes, and then put them into the knife drawer. Their time will come around again, and it is almost like getting a new knife when it does! If it is one that I definately know I am not going to carry, then off to fleabay it goes, most often before it has even been carried.

I had no idea you was father time himself! :D

Close, but not quite. :D.

That top knife was made by Electric Cutlery Company. They went out of business around the turn of last century (if memory serves me correctly ;)).
The blade action on it is as nice as any modern production slipjoint I own and even holds up against a few customs by beginning makers.
